About IELTS Writing Checker

IELTS Writing Checker is an independently developed learning tool designed to help English learners prepare for IELTS Writing more efficiently.

What we do

We use top-tier AI models and the public IELTS Writing assessment criteria to analyse responses and provide estimated scores, criterion-level feedback, and practical suggestions for improvement.

The project grew from first-hand experience of IELTS preparation and English teaching. Our aim is to help learners understand their current writing, identify what to work on next, and make better use of every practice session.

We continually optimise our writing feedback against official IELTS guidance so it more closely reflects the real exam.

Founder and independent developer

Hi, I’m Ian. I have more than ten years of experience building internet products. I now live in an English-speaking country and work full-time as an independent developer.

I’m an English learner too. I have taken IELTS, spent countless hours preparing for it, and had more IELTS-related nightmares than I care to remember. That experience inspired me to build a tool that helps learners see what matters and use their study time more effectively.

Away from work, I enjoy hiking and watching films.

Hi, I’m Murphy. I’m a native English speaker with nearly twenty years of experience in English education. I have lived and worked in China, Vietnam, and Japan.

I love teaching the language and the cultural exchange that happens when students and teachers learn from one another. Through this website, I hope to share my approach to English learning and IELTS preparation with more people, helping them work towards the scores they need with greater confidence.

I’m a father of two and an Arsenal supporter. Watching the team play is one of my favourite ways to unwind.
