Why this response received Band 4.5
The response has a useful present-versus-redevelopment structure and correctly notes the rise to five study/bedrooms, the new parking area, and the ensuite. However, several major changes are omitted or inaccurately described, including the removal of the living room, reduction of garden space, and reconfiguration of the kitchen and bathroom, while frequent grammatical errors obscure meaning. Prioritise an accurate overview and systematic room-by-room comparisons in complete sentences.
IELTS Writing Criteria Scores
Task Achievement
The response identifies some important additions but provides an imprecise overview and omits or misstates several substantial layout changes.
Summarise the conversion to denser study accommodation, then accurately compare the living room, garden, kitchen, bathrooms, parking, and bedrooms.
Coherence and Cohesion
Separate paragraphs for the current and proposed plans provide basic progression, though relationships between rooms are often presented unclearly.
Move methodically around each plan in the same direction and link each existing feature directly to its proposed change.
Lexical Resource
Some relevant map vocabulary is used, but restricted and inaccurate choices such as yielded pictures and after advancement frequently weaken precision.
Build a reliable set of redevelopment verbs and location phrases, including replace, relocate, convert, expand, adjacent to, and along the eastern side.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy
Frequent errors in articles, agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction regularly make descriptions difficult to follow.
Write complete subject-verb clauses and check every passive future form, for example will be built, will remain, and will be converted.
