Many people have received support from the community while growing upas they grow up. For this reason,Because of this (CC), some suggest that all young adults should give back to their communities through a period of unpaid work. In my view, while this proposal brings clear benefits, it also introduces long-term challenges for young adults and their local areas.
Young adults offer distinct advantages when helping people in the community. Compared to seniors, they are generally more familiar with modern technology, so they could leverage this advantage by helping community members set up digital services like online banking or troubleshoot computer programs. This could also enable young adults to provide innovative solutions to common community issues. For example, instead of knocking on doors to collect donations, young people can set up online campaigns to raise funds for those who cannot afford daily necessities. In addition, mandatory community work frequentlyinevitably fosters essential personal growth. As they collaborate with others to support the community, young adults can quickly develop communication and leadership skills that they can apply in future work scenarios.
However, this compulsory requirement could introduce significantmeaningful challenges and risks to young adults’ personal lives. Today, young people in many countries are occupied with numerous daily tasks, such as supporting their families, finding jobs, or even raising children. Therefore, it could be argued that the community initiative would place an additional burden on their already demanding schedulesexisting lifestyles. Financially speaking, after graduating from college, some young adults are still looking for jobs and seeking part-time opportunities to pay their monthly bills. At this point, forcing them to take on additional unpaid work for a period of time would exacerbate their financial situations. Moreover, young adults may have limited capability to help people in the community despite their efforts. Many community issues are deeply rooted and require an in-depth understanding of local relationships. However, after going to college, manymost (language-hedging) young adults have spent years living away from their community, so they may have limited local knowledge to effectively address issues such as long-standing conflicts among neighbours.address issues such as long-standing conflicts among neighbours effectively.
To sum up, while the requirement can bring fresh perspectives to the community and facilitate personal development, it also has significant drawbacks and limitations. Making unpaid community work compulsory for young adults would place considerable strain onwould pose significant challenges to their personal lives, and they often lack sufficient knowledge to address some key community issues.
