Littering remains a common problem at many tourist destinations, particularly in areas of natural beauty. In my view, this problem is largely caused by inadequate waste facilities and weak enforcement of anti-littering rules. However, both issues can be addressed through targeted administrative interventions.practical government action.

2

One major cause of littering is inadequate waste infrastructure. When rubbish bins are difficult to find, located too far apart, or already fulllocated too far apart or already full, disposing of waste properly becomes inconvenient. Some visitors may therefore resort to dumping their refuse on sitechoose the easier option and simply leave their rubbish behind. The problem can then become self-reinforcing. Once an area already appears degraded or neglectedlooks dirty or poorly maintained, people may feel less guilty about littering themselves because such behaviour appears to be tolerated. Another important factor is weak enforcement. If people know that they are unlikely to face any consequences for discarding rubbish carelesslydropping litter, there is little incentive for them to change their behaviour. Over time, this can create the impression that littering is acceptable , making the problem even more widespread.and make the problem even more widespread.

Several measures could be taken to address these problems. First, local authorities should improve waste-collection facilities by installing an adequate density of clearly signposted waste and recycling receptacles.a sufficient number of clearly visible rubbish and recycling bins. These should be placed at entrances, car parks, and along popularcar parks and along popular walking or hiking trails, particularly in areas with heavy foot traffic. The use of smart bins that monitor fill levels in real time could also help prevent overflowing waste and keep tourist sites clean. In addition, governments should introduce clear anti-littering regulations and ensure that fines are consistently enforced. If visitors know that irresponsible waste disposal is likely to result in a substantial financial penaltymeaningful penalty, they will be far less likely to litter.

4

In conclusion, littering at natural tourist attractions is mainly the result of inadequate waste facilities and weak enforcement. Improving waste infrastructure while introducing and enforcing effective penalties would therefore be the most practical way to tackle the problem.

Overall assessment

Why this response received Band 8.0

The essay presents a well-structured and fully developed response that thoroughly answers both prompt questions regarding causes and solutions. The main strength lies in its precise vocabulary and exceptionally clear paragraph organisation, which make the arguments easy to follow. A minor limitation is that some supporting explanations could incorporate concrete real-world examples to further strengthen the overall depth. To improve further, try adding specific contextual examples to support main arguments.
