The debate surrounding the method of growing food has emerged as a central issue in contemporary discourse. While proponents argue that it is better to utilize scientific techniques to grow food, opponents counter that growing food naturally is far more desirablegrowing food naturally is what people should do. From my perspective, the latter stance holds greater validity due to its environmental and health benefitsdue to its logical coherence.

2

My preference for this stance stems from its logical coherence and empirical support, particularly concerning food grown in a natural way. This viewpoint rests on the rationale that growing naturally could provide a reliable and safe food supply to consumers. To be more specific, cultivating food such as vegetables and fruits in a natural way means growing them in fields and utilizing fallen leaves or flowers as fertilizers. In ancient agricultural society, humans were restricted to the fields to take care of all crops with all of their attention. A similar practice continues in green and natural farming, where farmers minimize chemical usage to ensure food safety and quality, thereby eliminating the risks of pollution and harmful chemicals. Thus, the demand for green and organic food has surged, especiallysurged especially in this post-industrialindustry period as health and environmental concerns riseregarding healthy and green concerns rising. As a result, organic food is at the luxury level, where people are willing to pay for its premium price.

3

Conversely, the opposing stance presents reasoned arguments, primarily arguing that it is better to use scientific techniques to grow food. Proponents argue that scientific methods significantly enhance efficiency, even if critics highlight long-term concerns. To elaborate, techniques such as fertilizers and pesticides could help protect crops from pestsworms and foster their growth, enhancing productivity in the short term. In stark contrast, it may exert profound detrimental impact on both crops themselvescorps per se and humanshuman. Fertilizers may promote the growth of weedsboost other plants and weeds like grass around crops, which may deprive crops of the nutrients which should not be absorbed by them, leading to a reduction inreduction on overall yieldfinal production and threatening food supply. Simultaneously, potentially harmful chemicals contained in pesticides may not be recognized as poisonous substances by existing detection tools. Consequently, theyit will accumulate through the food people consumevia food people eat and may accumulate in the food chain leading to irreversible damage to the whole society.

4

In summary, after thoroughly evaluating both perspectives, I remain steadfast in my support for the proposition that growing food in a natural way is better.

Overall assessment

Why this response received Band 7.0

The response clearly presents a clear opinion and addresses both sides of the argument, showing particular strength in logical structure and development of ideas. However, the explanation of scientific farming is somewhat contradictory, as it argues against the benefits of science within the paragraph intended to support it. To improve, ensure that the arguments for the opposing viewpoint present a genuine and balanced case before offering counter-arguments.
