To provide structure and foster discipline in childrenTo better guide and regulate children's behaviour, rules are commonly established for them to follow, whether at home or at school. However, excessive control by parents and educatorsparents or teachers can be problematic, as it may prevent children from learning to deal with problems independently in adulthood. In my opinion, while clear rules are necessary at a young age, children should gradually be given greatera certain degree of freedom as they mature.
To begin with, adult guidance is essential because young children are often too immature to make sound judgements. Their brains are still developing, and they may not always be able to anticipate the consequences of their choices. When left entirely without supervision,If left entirely on their own to make decisions, they may end up engaging in behaviour that is potentially harmful. For example, many parents restrictplace limits on their children's screen time to prevent them from being exposed to inappropriate online content. Such rules are justified because they can protect children's physical and mental well-being. Therefore, rules concerning health, safety, andsafety and appropriate behaviour are particularly important during the early stages of childhood.
However, parental control should gradually decrease as children grow older. Crucially,After all, children need opportunities to exercise autonomous decision-makingpractise making decisions independently. When they are allowed to make their own choices, they inevitably err, yet they glean valuable insights from such experiencesthey may make mistakes, but they can also learn valuable lessons from them. By contrast, children who are constantly controlled by their parents have few opportunities to develop critical-thinking and independent problem-solving skills. Over time, they may become overly dependent on others and find it difficult to cope with complex situations in the workplace or in their personal lives. Consequently,In this way, excessive parental control may undermine their ability to navigate challenges autonomouslythink independently and solve problems for themselves later in life.
Therefore, it is important for parents and educators alike to understand where to draw the line when giving children autonomy. There are stages in children's lives when clear rules are necessary, but there also comes a point when greater independence should be encouraged. With proper guidance and an age-appropriate degree of freedom, children are more likely to grow into capable, confident, andconfident and independent adults.
