As globalizationthe globalization advances, people in different countries are purchasing similar merchandise. As a result, manyMany find that countries are becoming increasingly similar. In this essay, both sides of this development will be discussed before giving my opinion. Admittedly, the opponents of this trend present valid concerns. Since products with similar features are becoming more prevalent around the world, it is hard for people to enjoy exotic shopping experiences. It is often the case that international tourists find that malls and stores in foreign countries are filled withof the same products manufactured by the same companies back in their home countries, which makes them wonder what the purpose iswhat is the purpose of purchasing the merchandise that is also available back homeback in home. Furthermore, with the prevalence of standardized commodities, it is hard for unique local artisanslocal unique craftsmen to survive, whose crafts areis often associated with local culture. A part of the local traditional culture perishes if the unique crafts cease to exist. Nevertheless, it would be an omission not to consider the positive side of this development. As standardized commoditiesAs the standardized commodities are available anywhere in the world, home-sick individuals can always enjoy products that are similar to those in their hometown even if they are away, alleviating their homesickness. In addition, although standardized commodities, which are often quality-guaranteed, cannot surprise you in a good way, they also will notit also won't surprise you in a bad way. Travellers always have a safe option if they do not want to purchase local productsa local products, which are more likely to be defective especially onin important or emergency occasions where they do not want anything to go wrong. In conclusion, I believe this trend is overall positive. Although standardized commodities cannot surprise tourists who like exotic experiences, they offer a steady and safe choice for those who want to prioritize reliabilityplay it safe. Moreover, standardized merchandise is often better in termsterm of quality than local alternativesthose local products.
