Tourists are generally drawn to museums and historical locations when visiting new countries. However, attendance records show low attendance among local peoplerecords have shown local people’s low attendance at these attractions. I will put forward some explanations before solutions can be proposeddrawn to tackle this problem.
There are several reasons why tourists rather than local people visittourists, instead of the local people, come to museums and historical places. First, these locations can provide visitors with a comprehensive overview of the traditions in the particular locality where they are situatedthe particular locality they are situated in. As a result, such destinations are generally more appealing to the newcomers than to local people, who do not need to familiarise themselvesthe locals, those without the need to familiarise themselves with the traditional values of the region. Moreover, because the layout of museums and historical houses is likely to remain unchanged over the yearsunchanged through years, they can be visually unattractive to the local inhabitants, who may have visited these sites at least oncebeen to these sites for at least once when they were youngerin their younger years.
Several measures can be introducedprompted to increase local attendancepromote locals’ attendance rate at historical sitesbuildings for historical relics and museums. The main solution is to change the public’s perception of such places as sites offeringfor only monotonous activities. Should civic events, including weddings, anniversaries, and concerts, be allowedconcerts be allowed to be held in these locations, they would attract substantial public attention to historical values. Another solutionresolution is that historians and preservationists should be featured more frequently inon the media, with their articles about the immense valuetheir articles on the tremendous worth of museums and historical remains.
To conclude, historical areas and museums can be uninteresting for local citizens because they may already be too familiar with the culturecan be too familiar with the culture that these places depict. To improve this situationTo better this, there should be more media coverage ofon historical assets and more policies allowing such locations to be usedopen-door policies to use such locations as venues for public activitiesspots for more public-oriented activities.
Why this response received Band 7.5
The essay covers both parts of the task clearly and is well organised, with distinct explanations and practical proposals. Its main limitation is linguistic precision: recurrent awkward collocations and preposition choices make several otherwise sophisticated sentences sound unnatural, and some solutions could be justified more fully. The highest-priority improvement is to use more idiomatic wording while explaining exactly how each proposed measure would increase repeat local attendance.
IELTS Writing Criteria Scores
Task Response
Both the reasons for low local attendance and possible solutions are relevant and clearly presented, though some proposals receive limited justification.
Explain the causal link between media coverage or civic events and sustained increases in local visits.
Coherence and Cohesion
The response follows a logical problem-and-solution structure, with focused paragraphs and clear overall progression.
Make the internal progression of the solutions paragraph more explicit by linking each measure to the perception it is intended to change.
Lexical Resource

Use more idiomatic collocations, such as measures can be introduced, media coverage, and increasing local attendance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy
The writer uses a good range of complex forms successfully, although article, preposition, and clause-construction errors recur.
Edit complex sentences for preposition and determiner accuracy, especially phrases such as over the years, visited once, and in the media.
