Overall, plastic bottle recycling consists of nine consecutive steps commencing with consumers depositing empty plastic bottles in recycling bins and culminating in the 3manufacturefabrication of new consumer goods. The entire cycle can be grouped into three major phases, namely waste collection and sorting, physical processing of plastic waste, and the creation of raw materials followed by finished products. Initially, empty plastic bottles are deposited into recycling containers by the public, before being gathered by a waste truck and transported to a recycling centre. Upon arrival at this facility, staff sort incoming plastic waste, manually separating and discarding 6non-recyclableunqualified items. Following this sorting stage, 7selectedqualified bottles are compacted into dense blocks, which are subsequently crushed into fragments and thoroughly washed to eliminate surface impurities.

Once 8washedcleansed, these plastic fragments are fed into machinery to produce plastic pellets. Subjected to heating, the pellets are converted 9into blocks of raw materialinto raw material, from which a broad variety of end‑use goods are manufactured, ranging from plastic storage containers and garments to carrier bags and pencils.
