Overall, immigration figures exceededoutnumbered emigration figures significantly, both of which witnessed an upward trend over the given period. MeanwhileBesides, the net migration fluctuated moderatelyremained relatively stable and increased slightly, reaching a primary peak in 2004 and a secondary high in 2007peaking in 2004 and 2007 before falling to its initial level. Regarding the number of immigrants, it rose from 450,000 to 510,000 by 2003, before surging to nearly 600,000 and experiencing moderate fluctuations.
Emigration increased by 100,000 from 300,000 by 2006, followed by a plunge to around 340310,000 in 2007 before rebounding to roughly 420,000. Regarding net migration,When it comes to the net migration, it levelled out at 150,000 between 1999 and 2003, after which it hit a peak of 250,000 in 2004 and reached a secondary peak of around 240,000 in 2007. In 2005, 2006 and 2008, net migration decreased to 200,000.
