People have overused natural resources in the last few decades. In fact, humans have used them for unimportant things, such as luxurious furnituresuch as for luxurious furniture or motor racing. Consequently, it has had a negative impact on the environmentgiven negative impact the environment. For that reason, governments must persuade the public not to overuse the resources. I totally agree with the statement and the following essay will discuss this issue in detaildiscuss in details about it.

2

It is a fact that the main threat to the environment is human activitythe human being. Mankind has overexploited natural resources so excessivelyin such an exaggerate manner, as it has caused serious damage to the earth. Firstly, people have logged forestforests areas in such an inappropriate manner, as it has caused the extinction of many unique animals. RegrettablyPathetically, some of the timbertimbers were not used for basic human needshuman's basic urgent needs, but they were utilised for the purpose of luxury goodsfancy and luxurious things. Secondly, with the adoption of fossil fuelsthe invention of fossil fuel in the 19th century, people have used oil as their main source of energyenergies. People have become more dependentPeople become more dependent on this energy, as the demand for the oil kept on increasing in the past few years, and it is forecasted to increase furthermore in the future. Many people do not realise that the fumes of this energy have caused catastrophic effects onto the earth, such as global warming. Besides that, it is reported that many oil mining plants have caused serious damagedamaged to their surrounding areas.

3

Therefore, governments should take some steps to preventsteps in preventing this problem. One of the steps that the government could do is by switching the type of energy. They could do extensive research on safer energy resources such as the windmill or the solar power; therefore these energies could replace fossil fuelscould substitute the fossil fuel types. Besides that, governments should conduct some campaigns to their residents, regarding the usage of timber. And then luxurious furniture should be charged with high tax rates and people should be encouraged to use electronic paper and reduce the usage of paper. By doing these kinds of things, it is hoped that it could recover the environment.

4

In conclusion, it is true that people have harmed the environment by over-exploiting the natural resources. Forests have been destroyed and the ozone layer has been damaged due to the exaggerate the use of them. In my opinion, I strongly agree that governments should take some actions in preserving the environments, as the overuse of natural resources would be a serious threat for the future generation.

Overall assessment

Why this response received Band 6.5

The essay sustains a clear supportive position, illustrates environmental harm through deforestation and fossil-fuel dependence, and proposes several relevant government responses, including renewable-energy research, public campaigns, and taxation. Its strongest feature is the practical shift from problems to policy solutions. The main limitation is frequent inaccurate wording and grammar, alongside undeveloped or questionable claims about fossil-fuel invention and ozone damage; prioritise fewer, better-explained examples with precise environmental terminology.

IELTS Writing Criteria Scores

TR

Task Response

7.0
Scoring rule

A clear position is maintained and both environmental damage and government action are relevantly developed, although some factual claims and the ozone reference are insufficiently supported.

Next step

Focus on demonstrable links between logging, fossil-fuel consumption, resource depletion, habitat loss, and emissions, then explain how each proposed policy addresses one link.

CC

Coherence and Cohesion

7.0
Scoring rule

The response progresses logically from position to environmental problems, policy measures, and conclusion, with clear paragraph functions despite some mechanical linking.

Next step

Pair each solution directly with the resource problem it targets and reduce repeated connectors such as Besides that and Therefore.

LR

Lexical Resource

6.0
Scoring rule

Vocabulary covers exploitation, extinction, fossil fuels, mining, taxation, and renewable energy, but frequent inaccurate collocations and word forms reduce precision.

Next step

Use excessive consumption, severe environmental damage, logging, timber, energy source, oil extraction, renewable sources, public campaigns, and resource conservation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy

5.5
Scoring rule

Meaning remains generally understandable, but frequent errors in articles, agreement, word forms, clauses, prepositions, plurals, and passive structures limit control.
