Dear Sarah,
I hope you and your family are doing well by the grace of the Almighty! I wanted to share an unforgettable experience with you. I recently attended the wedding of my cousin, Ayesha, here in Lahore, and it was truly memorableabsolutely magical. I thought you’d enjoy hearing about it, especially since you’ve always been curious about South Asian traditions.
Pakistani weddings are grand, colourful, and full of life. Ayesha’s wedding lasted three dayswas spread over three days, starting with the Mehndi night, where everyone wore vibrant clothes, danced to traditional songs, and had henna appliedhad henna designs applied. The next day was the Baraat - the main wedding event - where the groom arrived with his family in a beautifully decorated procession. Ayesha looked stunning in her red bridal dress, and the entire ceremony was emotional yet joyous. The final event was the Walima, a reception hosted by the groom’s family. The food throughout was incredible which included biryani, kebabs, korma, and traditional desserts like gulab jamun and ras malai. Everything was full of flavour and celebration.
I’d love for you to visit Pakistan someday. Our weddings are just one part of our rich culture, and I’m sure you’d enjoy exploring our cultureexploring it all. Let me know if you ever plan a trip. I’ll make sure it’s a memorable one!
Warm regards,
Samira
Why this response received Band 8.0
The letter fully addresses all three prompts with vivid, relevant wedding details and a warm, natural tone that suits a close friend. Its strongest feature is the precise, engaging description of the three-day celebration; the main weakness is a small amount of awkward phrasing around the food sentence. Prioritise polishing complex sentence connections and relative clauses so the language remains consistently effortless.
