During the 1990s, 35% of land degradation throughout the world was caused by over-grazing. Specifically, it led to 11.3% of the land in Oceania being degraded, followed by 5.5% of the land in Europe and 1.5% in North America. In terms of its regional impact, over-cultivation degraded 7.7% of land in Europe and 3.3% in North America, but it had no effect on Oceania (0%).
