Writing, reading and maths are the three major subjects. Some people think that computer skills should be added as a fourth subject. What extent do you agree or disagree?
Sample Response
The ability to read, write and solve basic mathematical problems are considered to be rudimentary skills that every individual is required to learn. The study of language and mathematics have been the priority of education since time immemorial. Nonetheless, with the advent of the digital era, the significance of learning the essentials of computer science is also being recognized. I strongly support the idea of making computer skills a mandatory faculty to have and in the following essay, I will support my views with relevant instances.
It is a well-known fact that presently, computers have become a vital part of our daily routine. Today, there isn’t a single business or organization that operates without the aid of computers. The necessity of being proficient in information technology has become so critical in this day and age that people without any prior knowledge or expertise in this discipline are deemed unemployable. Thus, to avoid such complications, training in computer technology should be provided to everyone from an early age.
Furthermore, one of the chief reasons for computer technology being such an indispensable part of our lives is the degree of convenience enjoyed with its use in everyday activities. From sophisticated functions in the realms of research and engineering to simple communications and even leisurely pursuits, computers can accomplish such a diverse array of tasks in a matter of seconds with minimal effort. That being said, such benefits can only be availed if the user has sufficient command over a computer system.
Nevertheless, making computer science a core discipline will be a tough endeavour as humans by nature have always resisted change. However, the rising demand for technological adroitness in both corporate and everyday life should help people in recognizing the need of the hour.
Finally, I would like to conclude by saying that the merits of being tech-savvy are far greater and varied than the ones mentioned above. Thereby, computer and information technology should be given as much weightage as other standard subjects.

Why this response received Band 7.5
The response is persuasive, well organised, and linguistically ambitious, with a consistent position supported by relevant arguments about employment and everyday utility. The main weakness is that support remains somewhat general and the brief point about resistance to change is underdeveloped; the highest-priority improvement is to deepen each reason with a specific consequence or example while removing a few awkward word choices.
