Some people believe that we should not try to prevent animal species from becoming extinct because extinction is a natural process. I largely disagree with this view. Although some species perish naturallynaturally disappear because they fail to adapt to environmental changes, humans should still safeguard endangered wildlifeprotect endangered animals, particularly when their decline is caused by human activities.
It is true that extinction is sometimes part of the natural process. Some animal species may disappear because they cannot adapt to changes in their environment or compete successfully with other species. For example, many species that lived millions of years ago became extinct owing to dramatic shifts in environmental conditionsbecause environmental conditions changed dramatically. In such cases, it may be unrealistic for humans to prevent every species from disappearing.
However, many endangered species today are threatened not only by natural changes but also by human activities. Deforestation, pollution, andpollution and poaching and overhuntingexcessive hunting can destroy animals' habitats and decimate their populationsrapidly reduce their populations. Therefore, humans have compellinggood reasons to intervene on behalf of these speciesprotect these species. For example, conservation programmes have helped increase the population of giant pandas after their numbers declined significantly. Furthermore, active preservation effortsProtecting endangered animals can also maintain biodiversity and contribute to the stability of ecosystems, which benefits both humans and the natural environment.
In conclusion, although extinction can sometimes occur naturally, I disagree that human intervention is entirely futile or unjustifiedthere is no reason for humans to prevent it. We may not be able to halt every naturally occurring extinctionstop every natural extinction, but we should protect species whose survival is threatened by human activities.
