Why this response received Band 5.0
The response establishes a clear view that the past remains valuable and offers relevant ideas about learning from failure and preserving culture. Its main limitation is the severe under-length treatment: the points are asserted briefly, connections are sometimes unclear, and frequent sentence-level errors weaken precision. The highest priority is to develop two focused reasons with specific explanations or examples while using shorter, accurately punctuated sentences.
IELTS Writing Criteria Scores
Task Response
A relevant position is evident, but the severely under-length response develops its supporting ideas only minimally.
Extend each main reason with a clear explanation and a specific example that shows its present-day value.
Coherence and Cohesion
The three-paragraph structure is visible, but progression is uneven and several long comma-linked sentences blur relationships between ideas.
Organise one central idea per body paragraph and use clearer sentence boundaries and logical links.
Lexical Resource
The vocabulary conveys the main message and includes some relevant terms, though range is limited and several word choices are awkward.
Use precise collocations such as learn from past failures and preserve cultural heritage, checking word form and natural usage.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy
Some complex structures are attempted, but frequent agreement, article, clause, and punctuation errors reduce control.
Prioritise complete sentences with correct subject-verb agreement before adding more complex clauses.
