Đề bài đầy đủ
The graph below gives information about the number of jobs in four sectors of the economy in the US between 1960 and 2020.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Bài viết đầy đủ của thí sinh
The graph shows how changes are occupations in four different kind of jobs in the US from 1960 to 2020.
In 1960, the number of Manufacturing is the highest in these four sectors, 15 millions, and the second highest is Retail and Agriculture as a same number (5 million). I can see the hugh gap between highest number of occupations and second's in 1960. Moreover, Healthcare is lowest number at approximately 2.5 million.
Firstly, the number of healthcare increace dramatically rather than the other three sectors. People who work as a healthcare had grown more than six times in 60 years, which is the highest number in 2020 with Retail sector. Furthermore, the number of Retail is also great rise.
Manufacturing was most common jobs in 1960, however these declined from 15 million to 13 million in 2020.
In addition, Agriculture was third highest in 1960 and had decreased 6 million to 2 million, which is the lowest in 2020.
To sum up, it can be seen that the economy in the US changed significantly in 60 years from 1960 to 2020, and at the same time occupations had been altered.
Nhận xét đầy đủ của giám khảo
This response is a good attempt at the task. It does include the main information in the line chart but there are some details missing, for example, manufacturing [declined from 15 million to 13 million] with no mention of the peak in 1980 at 20 million.
There is an attempt at an overview in the final paragraph, [To sum up, it can be seen that the economy in the US changed significantly in 60 years from 1960 to 2020, and at the same time occupations had been altered.] However, this is too generic. An overview needs to summarise the main changes that have occurred.
Ideas are presented coherently. There are some nice examples of cohesive devices [Moreover | Firstly | in addition | To sum up] but some overuse [Furthermore | however].
Some effective vocabulary is used [second highest | approximately | dramatically | common | significantly | altered] but, generally, the lapses in word choice have a negative impact on the score, [healthcare | jobs in healthcare | as a healthcare | as a healthcare assistant]. Spelling is generally good, with a sprinkle of errors [hugh | huge] that do not impede understanding. Grammatical structures are not well controlled, with frequent errors, for example, in verb tenses [how changes are occupations | changes in occupations | increase | increased], countable forms [four different kind of | kinds of | Manufacturing was most common jobs | Manufacturing jobs were the most common / Manufacturing was most common] and articles [as a same number | as the same number].
To achieve a higher score, the candidate should include an overview that summarises the main changes, and demonstrate a greater level of accuracy in vocabulary and grammar.

The best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Bài viết đầy đủ của thí sinh
Firstly, tall apartment blocks economize land area since it makes use of its vertical space compared to multiple residential areas which waste a major portion of area, multiple apartments can squeeze in more homes at each floor. Besides, heavily populated cities are rife with locals and expatriates seeking a place to live in a while they go about their business there. By utilising the apartment's geometrical structure, more homes can be provided for them at a cheaper cost.
Moreover, apartment blocks usually offer homes at a price lower than the ones set for onland homes. Bungalows, semi-detached, double story houses and others would usually be a pain in the wallet for someone without a stable or sufficient income, much like those who are new to the city. By building more apartments, more affordable housing can be accessed by many layers of the society. To paint a picture, we can visualize an example of a rookie worker at a major firm in a big city like Kuala Lumpur. He or she might not be planning to permanently reside there and raise a family but they definitely have the option of a stable house to return to at the end of a day's work. For families, they definitely can benefit the most as they do not have to pay a throat-choking price while still juggling the cost of raising children and dealing with bills and taxes.
In conclusion, governments should implement an urban-planning scheme which involve building more tall apartment blocks in large cities. In doing so, the percentage of homelessness may decrease largely. Not only that, the productivity of the city will improve and boost the country's overall economy. Homes are crucial for a harmonious and safe community as well as healing one's mental health. Although there may be other mechanisms in place to achieve this common goal, I still stand firm with my reasons.
Nhận xét đầy đủ của giám khảo
This is a strong response overall. The first part addresses the benefits of tall apartment blocks, and includes the efficient use of ‘vertical space’ to fit in more homes, the benefits of ‘geometrical structure’ providing cheaper costs. The writer states that homes in apartments are usually more affordable and gives examples of [rookie workers] and [families] in Kuala Lumpur, having a safe place to return to [at the end of a day's work].
There is no mention of the advantages of other types of homes, but in this kind of question, it does not need to be presented. In the conclusion, the writer states that governments should build these kinds of tall apartment blocks, to decrease homelessness, increase the economy, and benefit community mental health.
Progression is logical. Linking expressions are appropriate [Firstly | Besides | By… | Moreover | To paint a picture] with some good examples of reference [the ones | those who are | which] and paragraphing is helpful.
Vocabulary use is strong with some precise meanings and effective collocation [squeeze in | rife with | stable or sufficient income | implement | boost | harmonious | healing one's mental health | mechanisms in place | common goal]. There are some small slips in lexis [onland homes | throat-choking price] although the meaning is clear. Sentences are varied and contain complex structures. There are multi-clause sentences with a range of structures, including modal verbs [might | can | should], but a few errors remain.
Overall, this is a good response. To achieve a higher score, the candidate should include a few more ideas around the ‘best way’ to provide enough homes. Comparing the ‘tall apartment blocks’ to other solutions for providing enough homes would be beneficial.

The plans below show a college café before it was redesigned and how it looks now.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Bài viết đầy đủ của thí sinh
The maps display how the café changes after it was redeveloped. It compares how as it is now and as it is before redisign.
First of all before the modifications, we can see that there was a kitchen and a serving area at the top left hand corner of the café. Then, in the midle, there was the seatting area, and just above, two staff dining rooms. After that, just at the bottom of the entrance, there was bin and there were the toilets. However we can see that now, the bins have been changed into recycling bins. In addition, the staff dining rooms have been replaced with a take away food and a coffee bar. Although the seating area hasn't been modificated, on the left side, a salad bar has been added. At the top left-hand corner, the kitchen remains the same, while the serving area has been transformed into hot meals. Finally, a outdoor seating area and a barbecue have been constructed at the bottom of the café.
Nhận xét đầy đủ của giám khảo
This response addresses all of the changes illustrated in the college café plans. The writer describes how the café looked before the modifications, then moves on to the present day map. There is no overview, or summary of the information, but all main changes have been captured.
Information is generally arranged coherently. The first paragraph is an introduction, and the second contains the rest of the comparison. There is evidence of linking expressions [First of all | Then | After that | Although], however, there is a lack of reference, resulting in repetition [as it is].
Vocabulary is generally good [modifications | replaced with | transformed into] but errors remain [redisign / redesign | midle / middle | seatting / seating | modificated / modified].
Grammatical range is mixed. There are examples of complex sentence forms, but there is frequent repetition of verb forms e.g. passive structures [have been changed | have been replaced | hasn't been modificated | has been added] which means the range is limited and precludes a higher score.
To improve the score, an overview that summarises the main changes should be added. It would also be beneficial to show greater accuracy in vocabulary and a wider range of grammatical structures.

Some people say that in the digital age, theatres and cinemas are no longer important as people can watch all the entertainment they want online. Others argue that theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Bài viết đầy đủ của thí sinh
People have differing views about the significance of the theatres and cinemas in the present age of technology. While some argue that there are no need for theatres and cinemas when it is possible to have access to online version of everything, in my opinion, that facilities are still of paramount importance for both people and economics.
On the one hand, people today are able to watch any content they want through Internet without spending a lot of time and money.
Firstly, using electronic devise and social platforms makes it possible for users to watch any movies or films at any time they want. Shows and films are put at a certain time in cinemas, theatres which is not suitable for everyone. But if people use internet they can ensure the flexibility. Secondly, prices that have to be paid to enter cinemas and theatres are not affordable for many people. However, through using the Internet, to watch a movie or film can be much cheaper.
On the other hand, I, however argue that theatres and cinemas still have their significant part in terms of environment and financial benefits. For example, cinemas are provided with very big screens which can make people feel themselves inside the movie and in theatres watchers would enjoy the shows and and performances done by real actors, which is impossible to do in computers and mobile phone screens. On top of this, public theatres can bring the money that can be spent on public needs. New roads and other facilities can be erected for public use with the financial funds taken from those cinemas, theatres.
In conclusion, theatres and cinemas can be refered as non-useful places due to the developments in modern technologies but I believe that the use of them would bring a lot of advantages to bot people and society.
Nhận xét đầy đủ của giám khảo
This is a strong response, with a series of ideas for each part, presented effectively. It starts with a note that different countries have different patterns and the writer's position is clear in the first paragraph [facilities are still of paramount importance]. The first half captures the benefits of watching performances and movies online; it saves time and money, people can watch at any time of day, with flexibility. Paragraph 4 presents the economic and cultural benefits, the big screen makes people feel more included in the experience, real live actors, who can so dome things that computers cannot, public money can be raised from get togethers for specific needs. The candidate concludes that some people think that cinemas and theatres are [non-useful places] but they believe there could bring a lot of advantages.
Ideas are logically organised, and cohesive devices are varied. Reference is used [when | those] but with some inaccuracy [that facilities]. Some effective linking devices are used [On the one hand | Firstly | Secondly | On the other hand | On top of this]. However, paragraph 2 is one sentence, and should be combined with paragraph 3 for a more logical progression.
Vocabulary is a strength, with frequent high-level items and some skilful collocation [of paramount importance | differing views | watch any content] although, some errors remain [devise / device] and there are some examples of less precise language [make people feel themselves inside the movie | watchers / audiences | non-useful places].
Grammatical structures are also varied and show some flexibility and some multi-clause sentences, including modal verbs and [if] clauses. However, most sentences are not error-free, as there are slips with articles, prepositions [in computers / on computers], other simple structures [is | are] and some missing punctuation.
To achieve a higher score, the candidate could make the paragraphing more consistent, and aim for a greater degree of accuracy in vocabulary and grammatical structures.

The first that i can see is the thousand of kilometeres between the sea and the inland behind the mountains. This is important because the process have a lot of steps and the distance gives time to all of them.
First of all, the clouds are formed because the winds from the sea arrove to the coast and grow up until the top of mountain while the moist air are rise and cool. Moreover on the top of mountain starts to rains.
Then, the dry air continues over the mountain until the below part. This part saids inland areas finally, in this part when the dry winds founds the inland areas, the rain-shadow desert appears.

This response addressed the requirements of the task but, overall, there is a lack of detail.
The first paragraph is an introduction to the diagram. Task 1 Academic tasks require an overview, a summary of the key stages of the process, but this is missing. Paragraph 2 contains some irrelevant information [This is important because the process have a lot of steps and the distance gives time to all of them]. The main response comes in paragraphs 3 and 4 and it does include the main features, but there are details missing, such as ‘clouds form’ ‘Windward side’ and ‘Leeward side’. The irrelevant content and missing details detract from the score for this task.
Information is generally arranged coherently and there are linking expressions [First of all | Moreover | Then] and some referencing within the process [this desert | all of them | this part]. There is some repetition [The first | First of all] but overall, cohesive devices are used to some good effect.
Vocabulary is generally good and appropriate for the task [appears | explanation], the meaning is clear but there are errors [arrove / arrive | grow up / move up | saids / sees] and a lack of precision [in specific / specifically | gives time | below part]. Similarly, the grammatical range is narrow, often inaccurate and repetitive but the writer does attempt multi-clause sentences [while | when] and a modal verb [can] so there is some ability. Overall though, grammatical errors are frequent and they do cause some difficulty in understanding.
To achieve a higher score, an overview, which summarises the main stages of the process should be presented.

All university undergraduate courses should include a period of time spent studying abroad or doing a work placement.
Do you think the advantages of this would outweigh the disadvantages?
Bài viết đầy đủ của thí sinh
As the number of educated people is continually growing, universities attempt to make the process of studying (and it's result) as efficient as possible. Among the ideas to improve the conditions of students are the thoughts that all undergraduate courses should include a period of time spent studying abroad or doing a work placement.
A number of higher education establishments have already implemented these ideas into life. However, this is the advantage of developed contries, whose economy allows them spent money on this aspect.
Unfortunately, Ukraine is not among their number. Yet.
Weighing up the pluses and minuses of such strategies one can't but mention that advantages prevail. Firstly, going abroad, a student gets the opportunity to compare the approaches and levels of education. Moreover, undergraduates, who are still polishing their skills, have the chance to practice them in the completely new environment and probably see new horizons of their future career. In addition to the above mentioned reasons, let us consider the fact of cultural enrichment.
What concerns doing a work placement most of us will agree with the opinion, that theory and practice are two polar sides of any job. The possibility to try yourself in several work positions or even fields gives mostly advantages, allowing students to fit themselves into the real profession, opposing to those which are so wonderfully depicted in films and books. Moreover, a lot of people spend their whole life doing a job they do not really enjoy. So, why spend time on something you are not that good at?
There are definitely the drawbacks of such ideas, one of them being economical inability of education system to provide such courses for undergraduates in ALL universities. However, the fact that developed countries are already moving forward in that direction gives us hope that in short or long time this strategy will become wide spread and even will be taken by us as granted. After all, what to invest money in if not in young people, the future of humanity.
Nhận xét đầy đủ của giám khảo
This is a strong, detailed and well-developed response. Ideas are appropriate and the position is presented at the beginning of the 4th paragraph [advantages prevail]. The first three paragraphs act as the introduction. Paragraph 4 addresses the advantages of time spent studying abroad (which include comparing approaches and levels of education, practising skills in a new environment, seeing new horizons for future careers and cultural enrichment). Paragraph 5 addresses the advantages of doing a work placement (which include trying work positions and fitting into real professions). The final paragraph presents the drawbacks, although the main disadvantage mentioned is the inability of all universities to afford these initiatives, which is not a drawback of the initiatives themselves, but in the ability to run them.
Some of paragraph 5 is less relevant to the question [why spend time on something you are not that good at?]. To improve this response, there could be more relevant detail on the advantages of work placements and, possibly, mention of ‘disadvantages’ of studying abroad and work placements themselves.
The ideas presented are organised logically and the six paragraphs support overall coherence. Although paragraph 3 is only one sentence, so not a standard paragraph but this can be seen as a stylistic variant, to make the point more clearly. Cohesion is used well throughout, and the message can be followed with ease.
Vocabulary is used well, with flexibility and precision [polishing their skills | new horizons | moving forward in that direction | future of humanity], with mostly accurate spelling and only a few errors in word choice [implemented these ideas into life | polar sides | taken as granted / taken for granted]. Similarly, the range of grammatical structures is wide. There are frequent multi-clause sentences and error-free sentences are frequent.
This is a good, articulate response. There are a few small lapses in vocabulary and grammatical structures, and more could be added on the advantages of work placements, to score even more highly.

In this chart, we can see a representation of categories and satisfaction of library users, the first feature that we pay attention is the users majority take part of full-time undergraduate and full-time post-graduate, such as they probably are the biggest data of library satisfaction, since very satisfied until not satisfied, also post-graduate students would need more special materials to hardest researchs and learning method, Even thought undergraduates students, fresh or veteran, are o their initial academic career, both categaries look satisfied with the library between another may, as the fact they use it more than once during a day.
On the other hand, academic staff is the lowest data categorie that use the library, with a percentage of 17%, the reason beyond this effect is because the staffs must to focus on their work, so they probally use the library on their free-time, however, distance learning students have a 8% percentage, both categaries have a 1% difference percentage, which explain they took a little part of satisfaction research, distance learning have a low percentage because the fact they also access online materials.
Finally, part-time postgraduate students are the medium date, with a 16% percentage. where they would use the libraray to classroom researchs or homeworks.
Nhận xét đầy đủ của giám khảo
This is generally a good response, there is an introduction at the start, and an attempt at an overview […the users majority take part of full-time undergraduate and full-time post-graduate, such as they probably are the biggest data of library satisfaction]. To improve the overview, there should be a summary across both charts. Key data from the pie chart is presented quite well but the ‘Library user satisfaction’ data is not sufficiently covered. There are also examples of irrelevant information [would need more special materials | use it more than once during a day | use the library on their free-time] which can detract from task achievement.
Ideas are mostly arranged logically. There are some nice linking expressions [since | also | so | Finally | On the other hand] with some slips [Even thought / Even though], and some good examples of reference [their | they].
Vocabulary is mainly appropriate and spelling is generally well managed [representation | pay attention]; some errors remain but don't affect understanding. Grammatical structures are mixed, but there are multi-clause sentences and examples of a range of structures, including modal verbs used correctly [would need], and with some errors [must to focus].
This response could be improved by including an overview that covers both charts (so, including the ‘Library user satisfaction’ table,) and eliminating the irrelevant content. A wider range of vocabulary and grammatical structure would also help improve the score.

Some people argue that primary schools focus too much on formal learning.
To what extent do you agree with this opinion?
How important do you think it is for children to play as well as learn in the primary school classroom?
Bài viết đầy đủ của thí sinh
Nowadays individuals are arguing that primary schools pay a lot of attention to the formal methods of learning. I partially agree with this point of view, however I think play is extremely crucial in the classroom full of primary students.
To begin with, formal learning plays an important role, since it teaches the student about being disciplined and respectful to everyone. Discipline and respect are two most important skills we need in our life that schools teaches us in a way of formal learning. Getting into details, these skills make people succeed in their lives. If we look at the example of successfull people today they all have these two qualities in common. Moreover formal learning helps us to test the ability of a student by conducting an exam in a formal way, which shows us how much has a student learnt and how much is the student capable of doing.
On the other hand, I believe that too formal education is not the best way of learning. Considering the stage of the life in which primary students belong, we need to realize that fun is a crucial part of it. Being extremely formal blocks that fun from a student's life. So instead of schools being strict about formal ways of learning they should promote fun methods of teaching. For example, mind games other other video games, colours, paints and other activities will also teach student but in a enjoyable way. These activities will also promote the important skills such as social skills, creative skills and other beneficial skills we need in our daily lives. Furthermore, if we consider it deeply it will also prevent boredom and will motivate the student to have a passion for lifelong learning. last but not the least, play in the primary classroom has a huge importance on it's own. which gives the student this freedom to enjoy learning.
In conclusion, formal learning has it's importance till some extent but sometimes it is a necessity to be informal. And schools should be focused at both of the methods of learning.
Nhận xét đầy đủ của giám khảo
This is an excellent response that presents a range of relevant ideas. The writer sets out their position in the opening paragraph, and addresses both parts of the question. Paragraph 2 presents the importance of formal learning: it teaches discipline and respect, it allows people to take exams to show how much they have learned and are capable of. Paragraph 3 goes on to present the importance of play: being too formal blocks fun, schools should promote ‘fun’ methods of teaching, they make suggestions of types of games and activities that could be used to teach in an enjoyable way, prevent boredom, and instil a love for lifelong learning. The conclusion brings the response to an end, but is quite general. It is appropriate, but could be more focused.
Ideas are presented logically. A range of good linking expressions are used [To begin with | Moreover | On the other hand | Furthermore]. However, almost every sentence begins with a linking device which makes it quite mechanical. Generally, reference and cohesion within sentences is well managed [which | it]. A reduction in the number of linking devices that come at the start of sentences would make it less formulaic.
Vocabulary is well managed, with a good range of higher-level items, including collocation [pay…attention | capable of doing | a crucial part of]. There are occasional errors [till / to | focused at / focused on] that detract from the highest scores. Grammatical structures are well presented, with a range of complex structures, including multi-clause sentences. A few errors do remain.
Overall, this is a very strong and articulate response. To achieve a higher score, the candidate could provide a conclusion that refers directly to the question, and avoid starting each sentence with a linking expression.

Dear Sir or Madam,
Lately i’ve been encountering some major problems regarding my neighbour, who also rents his flat from you. The issue started since last week and involves on him making really loud noises late at night while he is probably playing videogames.
The noise produced by him is hugely impacting on my sleep schedule and quality, with me having problems on falling asleep and also having multiple interruptions throughout the night, which is impacting my overall mood and disposition during the day. I reached the point in which i had to visit a doctor in order to check my headaches that is giving me through the day, caused mainly by my low quality sleep.
I would like to kndly request you to please message or phone the renter explaining how his behaviour is disturbing all other of his neighbours and also soliticiting him how we can come to a solution to this problem.
Nhận xét đầy đủ của giám khảo
This letter is a good response which covers each area of the task. It includes: when the problem began [last week], how the noise has affected them [impacting on my sleep], actions requested from the agency [message or phone the renter]. All bullet points are covered and the purpose is clearly presented. The tone is consistently polite. However, the format of the letter is incomplete as there is no ‘closing’ (e.g. Yours Faithfully, Best wishes), this does impact the score for Task Achievement.
There is clear overall progression, although at times, the sentences are not as fluently linked as they might be.
There is a good range of vocabulary that is more than adequate. Although there are errors, there are also many examples of accurate choice and appropriate modification [multiple interruptions | low quality sleep]. A mix of simple and complex structures is used, but mistakes with prepositions and slips with verb forms, limit the rating for this criterion.
This response shows some features of higher-level performance, but weaknesses in format and grammatical control limit the overall rating to Band 6.

It is very common for people to change both their habits and their opinions as they get older.
Do you agree or disagree?
Bài viết đầy đủ của thí sinh
It is argued that the change in people’s habits and opinions occurs as they get older. In my opinion, I strongly believe that this statement is true because people are constantly expose to external stimulations and strongly affected by this.
Throughout the long period of human life, people experience numerous events and have relation with countless people. When people reads a certain book whether it is interesting for them or not, people tend to develop some kind of notion in their mind. This also happens when encountering a piece of artwork in a gallery or somewhere. People may be struck by it and have an impression on it, which leads to gaining of knowledge. Moreover, socialising with people has a similar effect. Through communications, one could develop their current idea or revise their thoughts by being expose to other people’s opinion. It is obvious that we are easily affected by others.
Human habits are highly dependant on current circumstances. Once people have an ailment, their eating habits has to be changed to a healthier one and they might have a regular exercise from then. If they change their goals for the future like going to universities, they would have to introduce themselves with a reading or studying habit. When I was in high school, I changed my aiming university from a lower level to a higher level. As a result, this made me change my studying habit to a very intense one.
In conclusion, people easily change their habits and opinion, because people think it it better to do it by instinct.
Nhận xét đầy đủ của giám khảo
This is a strong response to the task. The position is clear, and the ideas presented are supported and developed. The candidate agrees that it is common for people to change their habits and their opinions, illustrates why they think this is true, and gives examples from their own experience. The concluding paragraph is rather too general and could be more strongly focussed on the question.
The message is easy to follow. There are higher-level linking expressions [Throughout | Moreover | As a result] and cohesion is generally well managed, although there is some repetition due to a lack of reference [people].
Vocabulary is flexibly used, with some skilful examples, and collocation [countless people | struck by it | similar effect | current idea]. Some minor errors in word formation remain [relation]. Grammatical structures are also flexibly used, with the majority of sentences, without error, and examples of multi-clause sentences using [if | which]. Occasional errors remain, including [expose to / exposed to] and missing articles.
This is already a strong response, but to achieve the highest ratings, the ideas could be more fully developed around ‘as they get older’ and the conclusion should refer back to this aspect of ‘getting older’. There is also room for even greater levels of accuracy in cohesion, vocabulary and grammatical structures.

Dear Sir or Madam
I have been enjoying long walks in the near countryside for years. Admiring the thriving nature is a great pleasure. I love observing wild animals roaming around and take pictures of them. It is my passion and it gives me much happiness. The countryside is a place where I can forget about the problems of my everyday life. I am sure that it brings everyone joy.
However recently I have started noticing large piles of rubbish being left around the place. I have found enormous amounts of plastic bags, bottles, containers and even tires. Not only does it destroy the beauty of the countryside’s landscape, but it also destroys the delicate environment of the place. The litter can be dangerous to animals. I have found things such as gasoline containers.
The problem has to be dealt with immidiately. I would support having people pay fines for leving the rubbish in such places. The town council could also set up cameras, to catch such people. Another way of dealing with the problem could also be sending police patrols to control the situation.
I hope my proposition will be considered
Sincerely,
XYZ

The writer has covered the three bullet points in detail: the passion for walking, the types of litter [plastic bags, bottles, containers | tires | gasoline containers], and the suggestions for solutions [pay fines | cameras | police patrols].
The response is easy to read, with good cohesion. The writer has used a range of cohesive devices [however | Not only | but | also] and used referencing [them | such people] to achieve this.
There is flexibility in the use of vocabulary, with some good collocation and higher-level items [thriving nature | delicate environment | dealt with | control the situation], and only a few errors [immidiately / immediately | leving / leaving]. Similarly, there are a variety of grammatical structures, including modal forms and some multi-clause sentences. However, many of the sentences are fairly short, single clause sentences and, in the second paragraph, there is repeated use of the present perfect.
This is already a strong response to the task. To achieve the highest ratings, there could be greater accuracy in use of vocabulary, and wider use of multi-clause sentences.

In this globalised eon, without any qualms that the Olympics or the football World cup, are a good way to bring countries together. Some people coincide that others say that these events created competition, not friendship, between countries. All the teams are playing very well and all the countries teams, and team members are well-mannered.

The response addresses the part of the question about ‘bringing countries together’ but does not cover the aspects of ‘creating competition between countries’ and is, therefore incompletely addressed. The position is stated at the end of the first paragraph [I believe that international sports events, are a good way to bring countries together] but the development is not clear. There is a focus on the behaviour of the players rather than how this impacts on the countries. To improve this response, there should be more focus on whether sporting events ‘bring countries together’ or harm relationships between them.
Information is organised into three paragraphs and some cohesive devices are used [which | whenever] but overall, there is a lack of progression.
Vocabulary is minimally adequate with some correct resource [well-mannered | Compelling | demonstrate] but spelling can be inaccurate [avidances | snopsiye] and the range is not very wide. There is a limited ability to use grammatical structures and errors are frequent.
To achieve a higher score, the candidate should present more ideas around the second part of the question and ensure the conclusion relates fully to the question. They should also demonstrate a greater level of accuracy with vocabulary and grammatical structures.

Dear Sir Kowalski,
I am writing in connection with a series of free concerts that took place this summer in our local park. You asked me to attend one of the concerts and wanted me to give you feedback about it.
I have to say that there were many interesting concerts and I had a huge problem choosing one of them. I wanted to go to each concert but I chose only one I had time to go there. The name of the music group was Kensington – just like the Palace in the United Kingdom. There were four young men. Two of them played the guitar, one played the piano and the last sang. They played very loud but their music was nice to listen and dance. I have see many dancing people during their performance.
My suggestions for the next summer’s concerts are to keep the direction. Everybody who listened to those concerts was happy. I asked a few questions and a woman above me said that she loved it and want such a kind of events every year.
I enclose a short movie I have recorded.
Yours sincerely
Renata

This letter is a strong response and it covers each area of the task, describing the concert attended [Kensington], saying why it was enjoyable [nice music] and including an overall suggestion to keep the summer concerts going. These points should be extended further for a higher score, for example, including clearer ideas on how to improve the concerts, rather than [keep the direction].
Organisation of ideas is generally logical and there is a clear progression. Linking devices are used well, with a range of referencing [one of them | the last | their], although there is some inaccurate use [to go there | such a kind of].
There is appropriate vocabulary [in connection with | huge problem choosing] with a few errors [above] that don’t detract from the meaning. There are some effective grammatical structures, including multi-clause sentences and a range of tenses. However, the range of structures overall is limited, and there are errors [I have see / I have seen | want / wants]. Overall, sentences are short and the level of error in grammar does have an impact on the score.
To achieve a higher score, the bullet points should be more fully explored, and a greater range of vocabulary and grammatical structures should be included.

Nowadays many large international companies offer their staff the opportunity to spend a period of time living and working in another country
In my opinion this is good opinion to develop companies and make it grown up, also it can be prove their staff more skills and have more knowledge by this way.
Everyone known the world that we live in is a faster like the higher speeding weel, change every day. The companies need to move ahead and stateges need to shift. their leader, managers, technologers, and more staff need to study more. It will be have a high level after a period of time studing. I think more advantage for companies and for staff spend a period of time living and working in another country.
There are more multiple couture in another countries. transport and economice bring us big way to easy to living and working in another country.
Just keep going progress with learning more from another country, you can gain richfull knowledge and skills. Eventually you can find the would will rewards you. and the international companies which you work to will be bigger and stronger!

The first paragraph, and the end of the third paragraph are copied from the question. The writer does agree that this kind of opportunity to live and work in another country is a positive one, but beyond this, the development is not clear. The main ideas are limited and we do not really hear why it is good for employees, and good for the company in any detail.
Organisation is not very logical but there is a sense of underlying coherence.
Simple vocabulary is used accurately, but overall, there are frequent errors [weel / wheel | technologers | couture | richfull | would / world] that are noticeable for the reader. There are some complex structures used but, overall, sentence control is very weak and this makes some parts, such as the conclusion, very hard to follow.
Note: wording that is copied from the question is not assessed by the examiner. Test takers should try not to simply copy the question within their response.

In this response, all the bullet points are covered and the purpose of the letter is generally clear. The introduction to the new mentor includes information about previous areas of work, and current studies, an indication of the area of help [e-commerce], and an invitation for the first meeting. Overall, more clarity and more detail across bullet points 2 and 3 would improve the TA rating. For example, in bullet point 3 [send to you an invitation], we do not know if this meeting is online or face-to-face, or any other details around arrangements. This could be added to improve the response.
The letter is organised and ideas can be followed but the sentences are not linked together well. There are some effective examples of reference [our | this] but, overall linking words are quite simple and repetitive [and], sometimes cohesive devices are not accurate [Althoug] and, often, missing altogether. This makes the response rather repetitive.
Vocabulary is mixed. There are some effective examples [Junior position | vast experience | checked your agenda] but overall control is weak, with errors in word choice [meet me better | time] and spelling [beeing / being | fine / five | addicional / additional]. The grammatical range is limited and rather repetitive.
There are some accurate structures and attempts at complexity [if], but overall structures are used repetitively, for example, most sentences start with [I] and tend to be short.
Overall, the bullet points are covered, but to improve the score, more detail for bullet points 2 and 3 should be included. As well as effective paragraphing to support the organisation of ideas and greater accuracy and range in grammatical structures.

Doctors tell us that we can get all the vitamins we need from having a healthy diet. Despite this advice, some people continue to spend large sums of money on vitamin pills.
Why do you think some people spend a lot of money on vitamin pills?
How could people be persuaded to improve their diet instead of buying vitamin pills?
Bài viết đầy đủ của thí sinh
Vitamins play a vital role for a healthy life. We can get all the vitamins we need from having a healthy balanced diet. Instead, Some people Spend large amount of money on vitamin pills.
Firstly, Some people believe that they don’t get enough vitamins from their diet. So, they spend more money on vitamin pills. In fact, our body doesn’t need more than what we need. They believe taking vitamin pills on top of a healthy diet makes them more healthier without knowing the facts. Secondly, some people don’t like fruits and vegetables and they don’t get enough vitamins. In this case, with doctors advice they spend more money on vitamin pills.
People Can get enough vitamins through a balanced diet. They can get enough vitamins by eating more vegetables and fruits. Vitamins are essential for all, especially growing children. Encouraging them by different tactics would make them eat healthy diet. For example, place colourful vegetables and fruits in a ‘face’ shape on their plate would attract them to try to eat. Teaching them from very young age to eat healthy foods are necessary for a healthy life.
Moreover, awareness should be create about our diets and health. People can get ideas and knowledge about vitamins by watching videos and reading books that are relevant to vitamins and vitamin intakes. Additionally, people should be aware that taking vitamin pills without doctor’s advice is not advicable. Having said that, yoga can also helps a person to eat healthy. People whoever practices yoga in daily life said that, after practicing yoga they cannot put any unhealthy foods on their body.
In conclusion, we can get enough vitamins by eating healthy diet like vegetables and fruits. Children should be encouraged from very young age to consume vegetables, fruits and milk or milk products (if they are tolerant to lactose). People should always Consider their doctors before taking vitamin pills. I believe that people can save more money if they started eating a healthy diet and not spend on vitamin pills which they don’t require.

This is a strong response. It addresses the requirements of both parts of the task. There are two reasons given for spending money on vitamin pills in paragraph 2, followed by several tactics on how people can be persuaded to improve their diet instead. These ideas are extended and supported.
Ideas are well organised and logically ordered, with ideas sequenced across 5 paragraphs. Cohesive devices are helpful, with linking words [Firstly | For example | Moreover | Additionally | Having said that] and reference [their | which].
Vocabulary is used well, with some good resource [play a vital role | balanced diet | different tactics | tolerant to lactose], there is some error with spelling [advicable / advisable] but, overall, a wider range of lexis would improve the score. Grammatical structure is mixed, with some multi-clause sentences, including conditionals [if] and modal forms [can | should] there are also a few slips and errors e.g. with the modal forms [should be create | can also helps], punctuation and missing articles. Again, the range is not sufficiently wide for a higher rating.
This is a good response, with relevant content. To achieve a higher score, the range of vocabulary and grammatical structures should be increased.

The first table shows changes in total population of New York city from 1800 to 2000. In 1800, New York's population was 79.216 then in 100 years the population sharply increased as over 4 times in 1800. Next 100 years, it still became more as it increased over twice as much as in 1800. Other two tables show changes of population in five different areas in New York. In 1800 Manhattan has 60.515 On the other hand other four areas, Brookly, Bronx, Queens and Staten Island had only 18.701. Manhattan has almost three times more than group of other four cities also. It had 76% of population in New York. It tells us Manhattan was the busiest city in New York. In 1900, Manhattan's populat increased sharply however, other broughs had bigger change. Population rate rise dramatically as 1587.109.
In 2000 other broughs had 6471.089 and 81% of population of New York. On the other hand Manhattan's population has dicreased and it became only 19% of New York population. Last 200 years people chose to live differant cities in New York.
Nhận xét đầy đủ của giám khảo
This response is a good attempt at the task; however, selected information is limited and there are some inaccuracies. For example, data for Manhattan are minimal, and there is some inaccuracy, [in 1900 other broughs had bigger change]. There is also a small error in the final sentence, [chose to live differant cities], this should be 'different districts' because the city is New York City. The score is also impacted by the lack of an overview. The last sentence is an attempt at an overview, but is not sufficiently specific. The information is arranged coherently, with some good use of cohesive devices [then in | on the other hand | it | however] but there is repetition [on the other hand | in], and the range could be wider. Vocabulary is generally adequate, with some good examples [sharply increased | dramatically | chose to live], but there are some noticeable spelling errors [populat | dicreased | differant]. Similarly, grammatical range is limited in this response. Some good use of comparative structures [increased over twice as much as | has almost three times more than | was the busiest]; however, there are errors, including choice of tenses and missing articles.

Bài viết đầy đủ của thí sinh
Access to pure clean water is for sure a necessary right for all human beings. It is one of the things needed to survive on this planet. Now, some people might argue that only and only water is required and the state of cleanliness of it should be a secondary thing to ensure, while other argue that there is no point in having water which, in some cases is not clean. can result to be fatal.
However all this debate comes down to one point whether or not this water shall be free of cost for humans. Let us look at it from a more fimiliar approach. All humans on earth have free will and a sight to life; what will happen if one day someone comes up to us and says that is is he or she who owns the air that we breathe in and just like that forces us to pay for over lives. This would not be acceptable to any human and they would be taking measures against.
Just like that our earth was created with all the water it had even before humans came into existence hence proving us that no person or no government is the sole protector of the earth's water resources.
Water was created for the dwellers of soil and creatures of the sea and all mankind to utilize. The creator of it did not ask us to pay for it by any means of money then who are we to charge for such a basic thing which we do not even own?
We all have seen countries going to war claiming the ownership of the water resources and if one of them does win all the effort goes down to nothing when in the end they tax their own countrymen for it.
It is clear that access to clean water is a basic human right. Therefore every home should have water supply is free. It is the responsibility of the authorities to look after the needs of the people as it them who declared clean water as a basic right.
Nhận xét đầy đủ của giám khảo
This is a good response that provides relevant ideas. The writer expresses their position, and agrees with the statement that access to clean water should be free, although there is some repetition and some lack of clarity within the main ideas expressed. There are supporting arguments that include: whether any kind of water, or only 'clean water' should be provided, whether people should be allowed to 'own' the air we breathe and force people to pay for it, whether any person should be the [sole protector] of the water supply and whether the aim is to [tax their own countrymen] for water. The conclusion states that governments have declared that clean water is a basic right, and so they should look after the needs of the people, and provide [every home] with a free water supply. Ideas are generally logically organised, but there is a lack of progression around the sections that refer to the ownership of water on planet earth, with repetition across three paragraphs (2, 3 and 4). However, generally, ideas are arranged in order and we can follow the progression through the response. Cohesive devices are used to some good effect, including referencing within sentences [while | us | who | their own countrymen]. However, paragraphing is not used effectively to sequence ideas, so more effective paragraphing could increase the score. There are some strong examples of vocabulary [comes down to one point | forces us to | look after the needs of] with some higher-level collocation. However, the level of error is quite high and detracts from the score for lexis. Grammatical range is also fairly wide, but again, the errors and missing punctuation mean that the response cannot score more highly. To achieve a higher score, the candidate should provide greater clarity when extending the main ideas, and use more effective paragraphing to organise ideas and improve progression.

If we look at the pictures we will see how Beechwood Farm has changed along the time.
Years ago, in 1950, Beachwood Farm was a tipycal farm. A track crossed the farm, so farmers could reach the barn and the farmhouse passing by the fruit trees, and the place where the soft fruits and the vegetables were growing. At the opposite side of the truck, was the field where the sheeps were situated. That was close to the farmhouse, were chickens were also situated. All the farm was sourrounded, at the south, by a river.
Nowadeys, the farm has suffered changes. Modern life brought to the farm some needs to survive. The main change was the road that replaced the track. Now is easyer to arrive any place in the farm.
There is a parking zone near the road where the sheeps used to eat grass. We can also find a camping field and Solar panels in that zone. Another parking zone can be find where the solar panels are situated. Just in front of the first parking zone we can see a farm shop. The old barn was replaced for a holiday cottoges, and relocated close to the chickens, near the river.
Lot of things have changed since 1950, and Beechwood Farm is not an exception. Modern times had come, and everyone had to be adjusted to new ways of living. We still have Beechwood Farm, but a new sophisticated and modern one.

This response addresses all of the changes illustrated in the farm plans. The writer describes how the farm looked in 1950, then moves on to the present-day plan. There is an overview in the last paragraph [Lot of things have changed since 1950, and Beechwood Farm ... a new sophisticated and modern one] but it does not mention the link to attracting visitors, so is not complete. Information is generally arranged coherently. The first two paragraphs cover the 1950s site, with the remainder focused on the farm today. There is evidence of linking expressions [At the opposite side | That | Nowadeys]; however, there is a lack of reference, resulting in repetition [farm | zone]. Vocabulary is generally good [parking zone | relocated | exception | adjusted | sophisticated] but errors remain [along the time / over time | tipycal | sourrounded | Nowadeys | easyer | cottoges]. Grammatical range is mixed. There are examples of complex sentence forms, including [If] clauses and modal forms [could reach | can also find] but there are also a range of errors which preclude a higher score. To improve the score, an overview that summarises the main changes should be added. It would also be beneficial to show greater accuracy in vocabulary and use of grammatical structures.

In many countries, primary and secondary schools close for two months or more in the summer holidays.
What is the value of long school holidays?
What are the arguments in favour of shorter school holidays?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Write at least 250 words.
Bài viết đầy đủ của thí sinh
In today's world, education is a must to every child and individual across every country. The duration of summer holidays became a major thing in terms of priority in some countries like in middle eastern location. Where as cold countries which experience long winters have concentrated less on summer holidays giving only few weeks for summer vacations.
On the other side, a regular family would like to spend most of the time in summer holidays by travelling to their homeland, meeting their relatives and seek long durations for summer, so that children can spend valuable time with cousins and relatives making valuable memories. On the other hand, some parents who work 365 days would find it difficult to take care of children during summer holidays as they have to work and prefer shorter period of holidays.
This has become a major problem and is affecting children in a bad way. Childhood is to cherish some good valuable memories along with studies. Longer summer breaks allow the children to make time to visit family relatives and this early relationship helps to maintain a stronger bond for the rest of the life. Once they are out of school, they have to work and make a living for themselves where they won't find time for their loved ones.
Coming to shorter school holidays, they help the children from falling back in studies (or) having interest. With longer duration of holidays children take a lot of time to get back their concentration after the school starts. It has both positive and negative side to it. Shorter school holidays help the student to maintain concentration, performance but at the same time they won't form special bonds which are really important.
From my perspective, maintaining strong relationship bonds is more important than just education which requires a longer duration of summer holidays.
Nhận xét đầy đủ của giám khảo
This is an appropriate response, with a series of ideas for each part, presented effectively. It starts with a note that different countries have different patterns. The value of long holidays include families being able to travel and spend time with relatives, as once children leave school, they won't have the free time to develop these strong bonds. The arguments for shorter holidays mention families where parents work and cannot take so much leave, and that it helps children not to fall behind in their studies. The candidate concludes that stronger family bonds are more important, so longer holidays are best. There is some minor repetition in the ideas presented. Ideas are logically organised, and cohesive devices are varied. Reference is used [This | they | their] but some inaccuracy in linking devices [Where as | On the otherside | Coming to], and some repetition [relatives | valuable] limits the rating in this area. Vocabulary is a strength, with frequent high-level content and some skilful collocation [spend valuable time | affecting children | maintain a stronger bond]. Some errors remain [falling back / falling behind]. Grammatical structures are also varied and show some flexibility and some multi-clause sentences. However, most sentences are not error-free, as there are slips with prepositions [to every child / for every child | in holiday / on holiday] and plurals [shorter period of holidays | side / sides] and some missing punctuation. To achieve a higher score, the candidate could explore the 'value of long holidays' and 'arguments for shorter holidays' in more depth. A greater degree of accuracy in vocabulary and grammatical structures would also improve the score.

This response does present data for each of the charts, and generally answers the question. There is limited detail though, for example, when describing the pie chart for the age of library members, we are told that the members are mostly adults, and those 65 and over are the [rawest]. There is no mention of children and young adults, and no reporting of the data in the pie chart itself. This means that only limited details are presented. Ideas are organised, and there is an underlying sense of meaning but some lack of progression. Sentences are not fluently linked to each other. Cohesive devices tend to be overused [which | Both | such as | However | Unfortunately | Nevertheless], and some are faulty [Wheras / Whereas]. There is some reference [It], but this is used repetitively, especially in the last paragraph. There is an attempt to use a range of vocabulary [less popular | visualisation's | break new record]; however, overall, the frequency of error, and the mistakes in word choice [rawest / lowest | binding / ?] limit the score for vocabulary. The range of grammatical structures is also limited. The response should be written using past tenses, as the data covers 2007 to 2016, but is mostly written in the present tense. Sentences are generally short, and the level of error is noticeable for the reader. This response could be improved by including an appropriate overview, and providing greater accuracy across vocabulary and grammatical structures.

Some people have decided to reduce the number of times they fly every year or to stop flying altogether.
Do you think the environmental benefits of this development outweigh the disadvantages for individuals and businesses?

Many people nowadays have decided to stop flying or to limit the amount of times they use this form of transport. This will undoubtedly have great benefits for the environment, but it may mean that for individuals or businesses this can translate to higher expenses. I believe the disadvantages for individuals and businesses would be greater than the effects on the environment. This essay will discuss advantages and disadvantages of this.
Environmental benefits of reduced air travel would have a direct effect in the amount of pollution in the air, which would mean a greener planet. However, this would also mean a rise in the use of other types of transportation. For example, if the amount of cars, buses or trucks on the road increases this also means greenhouse gas emissions increase too.
On the other hand, for individuals or businesses this could mean higher travelling costs, as well as lengthy trips and possible delays in reaching their destinations. All of this can affect the companies resources and even possibly cause them to lose business deals, or not even commence them due to restricted trading times. Higher costs for companies can cause job cuts which can have devastating effects for families.
In conclusion, I believe the disadvantages on individuals and businesses caused by a reduction in air travel are far greater. The potential implications for companies of higher travel and shipping costs, could reflect losses that can eventuate in job cuts. The effects on the environment would not be enough to merit such a drastic culture change and possibly pollution levels could rise as a result of the increase on other contaminants.

This is a strong, detailed and well-developed response. There are several appropriate ideas; the position is presented in the first paragraph and it is evidenced consistently. To improve this response, there could be more detail on the impact on 'individuals' as most of the examples refer to 'businesses'. The ideas are organised logically and the paragraphs support overall coherence. Cohesion is used well throughout, and the message can be followed easily. Vocabulary is fluently and flexibly used [translate to higher expenses | devastating effects | potential implications] with accurate spelling and only occasional errors in word choice [commence them / start them | eventuate in / result in]. Similarly, the range of grammatical structures is wide. There are frequent multi-clause sentences and the response is mostly error free.

The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Bài viết đầy đủ của thí sinh
The given diagram describes the process of manufacturing bamboo fabrics. Overall, the process includes a few main stages, which are showen on the diagram and are numbered from 1 to 8.
The first stage, obviously, consists of planting and growing bamboo plants, usually happening in spring.
The second phase, We could say harvesting one, is happening in the middle part of the year in autumn. Bamboo stems are cutting off by the season workers, collecting and sendening to the special plants during this period.
In the plants, what are showed a the third and the forth stages. on the diagram, the bamboo stems are cutting into long strips, then produced strips are crushing to make liquid pulp.
During the next phase these pulp is filtering through the special types of sieves to separate long fibres from liquid.
Then the fibres, filtered by previous step, are being undergone through the softenning procedure. This procedure includes adding water and amine oxide.
The seventh stage is the sppinning the soften fibres to make a strong bamboo thread.
Produced yarns might be used to make fabric, which is the last - eighth phase, by weaveing them using special equipment.

This is generally a good response, and it presents the key stages shown in the process. There is an overview, but it is rather generic and only tells us how many main stages there are [main stages ... are numbered from 1 to 8]. To improve the overview, instead of reporting the number of stages, there should be a summary of the main stages. Ideas are arranged logically. There are some nice linking expressions, appropriate for a 'process' [The first stage | then | During the next phase | which is] but there is some repetition [The first stage | The second phase | third and the forth stages | next phase | seventh stage | eighth phase]. Most of the sentences start on a new line - this means paragraphing is not present. Vocabulary is appropriate and spelling is generally well managed but there are errors. Grammatical structures are mixed but errors in verb forms are noticeable, particularly in passive structures [are cutting / are cut | are being undergone / undergo]. To achieve a higher score, the candidate should present an overview which summarises the main stages and paragraphing should be used to better organise the stages.

Many aspects of the way people dress today are influenced by global fashion trends.
How has global fashion become such a strong influence on people's lives?
Do you think this is a positive or negative development?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Write at least 250 words.
Bài viết đầy đủ của thí sinh
The way many of us are dressed today is believed to be affected by the fashion industry. The reason why it is so importent for some people to choose their clothes according to the trends may be in our dependence on what is popular at the moment which is a double-edged sword. Of course, trying to keep up with modern fads consumes pretty much time and energy, but is it really that negative in terms of maintainig individuality? To my mind, it is not.
Not surprisingly, global fashion has influenced people's tastes in clothing a great deal. We all see those celebrities on TV and on the Internet boasting their brand new outfit making many men and women jealous. Would blond hair in concert with a white dress have been so popular back in the day if it had not been for the voloptious Marlyn Monroe? world-wide famous fashion designers keep surprising consumers with their wild imagination producing more and more types of style. For instance over-sized winter coats have drawn attention not only from the youth but from the middle-aged as well.
Fashions by many are believed to dictate people how to look. They impose new styles, and some people wear certain clothes just because another designer told them to do so.
Looking on the bright side, there's absolutely no harm in getting advice from the fashion industry on what to wear this season. Moderation is the key. Do not overdo it. If you put on a garment that is really comfortable and suitable for you, it does not really matter whether it is fashionable or not. Your individuality won't be hurt if you simply like something that is in trend.
Nhận xét đầy đủ của giám khảo
This is a strong response overall. The first part, on the influence of global fashion trends is clear and detailed: people are influenced because they see celebrities on TV and the internet, want to copy famous icons like Marilyn Monroe, continue to be surprised by designers' wild imagination and experience more and more styles. The response to the second part is less well covered. The 'negative' side of this question is not addressed very thoroughly, apart from saying it takes [time and energy] to keep up with modern fads. The 'positives' include that there is [no harm in getting advice] on what to wear. More focus on the second part would improve the response. Progression is logical. Linking expressions are appropriate [Of course | For instance | Looking on the bright side] with some good examples of reference [their | those | another] and paragraphing is helpful (although paragraphs 3 and 4 could be combined as they cover the same idea). Vocabulary use is strong with some precise meanings and effective collocation [keep up | modern fads | influenced people's tastes | impose new styles]. There are some small slips in spelling [importent | maintainig | voloptious] although the meaning is clear. Sentences are varied and contain complex structures. There are multi-clause sentences with a range of structures, including conditionals [if], but a few errors remain. Overall, this is a good response. To achieve a higher score, the candidate should include a few more ideas around the 'positive or negative' influence of global fashion trends.

Dear Risham,
Good morning! Long time no see, hope you doing well. Do you still remember me? I am singing genius, that was a nickname you gave me 13 years ago. Also, for sure. I miss you so much!
As you know, we were left college for about 10 years. So I want to celebrate this 10th anniversary with our classmate and friends. Honestly, I do no know what should we do at first: but I remembered that in the last month of our college lives, Jessica let us to wrote a letter to the 10 years later’s us. I think this letter can be the theme of our anniversary. Moreover, we can bring some gifts to our firends and classmates. This will be a great chance to remind our enjoyful and lovely teenager school lives.
I’m really curious about the letter, I can’t remember anything of the letter. I really hope I did not write nay embrassing events. However, could you please help me to contact with Jessica and ask her about the letters? If you can I will really appreciate that. Meanwhile, I’m going to contact with Jasmeen and Annie, they were the “Social Queen” of our school; they might can help us to contact with our classmates and friends. This letter is a strong response and it covers each area of the task, including: an idea for the kind of celebration, reasons for using the letters they wrote 10 years ago as part of the celebration, and asking for help to contact the other school friends.
Organisation of ideas is generally logical and there is a clear progression. Linking devices are used well, with a range of referencing [me | this], although there is some inaccurate use [10 years later’s us] and repetition [letter]. Overall coherence is variable.
There is appropriate vocabulary [theme | ask her about | really appreciate that | build a group chat] but noticeable errors [firends / friends | enjoyful / enjoyable].
There are some effective grammatical structures, including modals and a conditional [If] form and some examples of multi-clause sentences. However, there are errors [they might can help us]. Overall, sentences are short and the level of error in grammar does have an impact on the score.
To achieve a higher score, a greater range of vocabulary and grammatical structures should be included.

It is important for children, young adults, working people and the retired to have at least one hobby.
What's your opinion about this?
Bài viết đầy đủ của thí sinh
I absolutely agree that everyone should have hobbies, at any stage of their life. As “hobby”, I consider any activities tha someone do for pleasure purposes only.
For example, children and young adults have their time at school, they do different sorts of activities, but they have a educational purpose.
Children and young adults should be able to get home and do something only for fun. Even when the activity involves learning something, when it’s a hobby, there’s no pressure, no stress, only the fact that they’re doing what they enjoy, for fun. Such as playing an instrument, or only listening to music, playing outdoors with friends, painting, playing sports, etc. A hobby can involve commitment, or not. In my case, I used to play with friends on the street when I was a kid. This was my hobby. As I was growing up, I started to listen to music and play guitar and found myself enjoying other hobbies.
The same applies for retired people. They should all have hobbies in their lifes. After so many years spent mostly working, it’s great for them having some activities to focus on. But, again, no pressure involved. Retired people usually have more free time to spend doing what they actually enjoy, so, if they have the chance, the should accumulate as many hobbies as they can and relax during retirement.
People then might find easy to say that kids, teenagers and retired people should have hobbies, since they usually have more free time. But what about working people? Yes, they definitely should have hobbies, and I would say that they need those.
Bring a working person nowadays it’s not easy. People spend several hours at work, on the way to work, on the way back home, taking care of their family, cleaning their houses, doing shopping, cooking the next day’s lunch, etc. They’re plenty of tasks that can’t be skipped, so, when do these people enjoy themselves and do something for fun? It’s important to have this in mind and value any free time doing any sort of hobby that make them feel relaxed, instead of productive. Working people are the ones who mostly need a hobby, so they can enjoy life as it should be enjoyed, with no pressure, deadlines or bosses. Just doing something because it makes them feel good.
Nhận xét đầy đủ của giám khảo
This is a strong response which covers each aspect of the task, and includes all the age categories: children, young adults, working people, the retired. The position is clear, that [everyone should have hobbies].
Ideas are well organised and sentences are linked together effectively [Even when | Such as | But what about...?] with some effective use of referencing [This | The same applies | these people | who], making this response easy to read and logical. There are a handful of errors and quite frequent repetition of [they].
Vocabulary is strong, with examples of good collocation [accumulate ... hobbies | have this in mind | makes them feel good]. Only a few errors remain [tha / that | lifes / lives | Bring / Being]. Similarly, a good range of grammatical structures is used, including modal forms [should | I would say | can’t be skipped] and comparatives [more]. A few grammatical errors remain, such as article use and subject/verb agreement [do / does | make / makes].
This is already a strong response, but to achieve the highest ratings, the ideas could be more fully developed around ‘young adults’ and the conclusion could refer back to all the categories being presented. There is also room for even greater levels of accuracy in cohesion, vocabulary and grammatical structures. It would also be helpful to avoid the ‘one sentence paragraphs’ to ensure paragraphing supports the sequencing of ideas within each section of the response.

Dear Matilda,
Thank you for your question in related on study abroad as you know.
Well, I went to griffith university in Australia in 2015. I studied nursing and it took me four and half years to achieve. However, finally I graduated in the early of february 2020.
As you know, study abroad is challenging. My first day in Australia was annoying. I did not have any friends to comunicate with. So rang my mom and talk with her. But, a month later I got along with many international friends.
The reason I chose to study overseas was that the education system in Australia is better in our own country. There were lots of practical rather than theory. And also the lectures and students are friendly and helpful. Studying abroad is helpful because it easy to get a job. I have being working in Timorese International hospital for two years.
Good luck.

This response covers the main points within the task. The writer addresses the first bullet point, ‘where’ they studied, and the third, ‘how the year was helpful’. However, there is no real answer to the second bullet point around, ‘what you learnt about the country you studied in’. To improve task achievement, some information about what they learned about Australia should be included.
The letter is logically organised and the ideas can be followed, although the linking words are quite simple and repetitive [So | But | And also] and there is some inaccurate use [As you know]. A wider range of linking devices would improve the rating.
There is some good use of vocabulary [to achieve | challenging | reason I chose to] but there are errors in word choice [early of] and the range is rather limited. Similarly, the grammatical range is limited, for example, inaccuracy in comparative forms [better in / better than in | easy / easier] and does cause some difficulty for the reader.
To improve the score, the second bullet point around ‘what you learnt about the country you studied in’ should be included and a wider range of accurate vocabulary and grammatical structures.

In many countries, family members work together in their family business.
Do you think family businesses have more advantages than disadvantages?
Bài viết đầy đủ của thí sinh
I do think family owned businesses have more advantages than disadvantages. For businesses ran by family members, the members feel a strong sense of pride for the business and in that regard they are more vested in the positive outcome of the business. Meanwhile if the business has primarly employees running the business, for them it is just a pay-check. The success of failure of the business is not their responsibility. Therefore it may less likely be that a family owned will fail. One may argue however that the family members may not posess the required skill set for a particular job and that may spell disaster for the company. Hence it will be best to outsource the job to more qualified candidates. As true as this may be, the family has the option of choosing a member to be trained to fill specific roles. Another advantage of a family owned business is, the children are exposed to the business from very early in their lives. They are able to experience the inner workings of the company from different levels, this in turn would translate into a greater appreciation for the business. Currently I work for a large company which by in large a family owned company. The company has been around for more then 50 years, they have weathered many different economic climates and are able to still remain relevant in the business sphere. This is mainly due to the fact that the business has remained in the family. With its humble beginings the business has been able to generate wealth for over 4 generations.

This is a strong response to the task. It is unfortunate that this candidate has not used paragraphing, as this is a requirement of IELTS Task 2, and the score for Coherence and Cohesion is limited due to this.
The position is clear, and the ideas presented are relevant and well developed. The candidate agrees that there are more advantages, illustrates why they think this is true, and gives the example of the company that they currently work in.
Apart from the lack of paragraphing, the message is very easy to follow. There are higher-level linking expressions [in that regard | Meanwhile | One may argue | As true as this may be] and cohesion is generally well managed, although there is some repetition due to some lack of reference [business].
Vocabulary is flexibly used, with some skilful examples, and collocation [strong sense of pride | spell disaster | outsource the job | greater appreciation | remain relevant | generate wealth]. Some minor spelling errors remain [primarly | posess | beginings]. Grammatical structures are also flexibly used, with the majority of sentences without error, and examples of multi-clause sentences. Occasional errors remain [ran / run], including in word order [may less likely be / may be less likely].
This is an example of a response that has suffered a penalty for the absence of paragraphing. The band score could be improved by the use of paragraphing, to support the sequencing of ideas within this high-level response.

I hope you can come and enjoy together this openning. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Nhận xét đầy đủ của giám khảo
This response is a good attempt; the writer has addressed all the bullet points: information about the new theatre includes who it is built for, the name of the architect and the reason it was built, the actor is invited, and the reasons why he would be a good person include his work in fundraising for cultural organisations that suffer finance issues. There could be more expansion on the third bullet point for a higher task achievement score. The tone is appropriate to make this request to a famous actor. Organisation of ideas is generally logical, with linking devices used well [Finally | but] with some effective use of referencing [who | this project | it] although cohesion within sentences can be faulty.
Vocabulary is generally good, with some examples of a wider range of resource [talented | new cultural experiences | from different fields] but overall, the errors in word choice are noticeable [congratulate this new start | pass the cultural services over]. The errors in spelling do not impede communication [buiit | funderising | openning].
Similarly, there are some effective grammatical structures, including [if] structures and multi-clause sentences. However, overall, these structures are not always very accurate. There are errors with plural forms [actor and musician] prepositions [join to] and articles.
For a higher score, the third bullet point could be expanded, and greater accuracy in linking expressions, vocabulary and grammar would also be helpful.

Nowadays it's possible for people to buy many products or pay for treatments that help them to look younger.
Is this a good thing or a bad thing?
Bài viết đầy đủ của thí sinh
Eternal youth has always been some type of desired myth on every civilization. Even if science has already proven that it is impossible for humans to stop the process of getting older, it is possible, on a surface level, to make this process less visible.
Nowadays there are tons of brands and laboratories especialised on products that retard the natural aging of our skin. The primary components on those types of products are collagen and hyaluronic acid, which is great, because our organism already produces those naturally, but as we get older, it decreases the productions, causing flacid and dull skin.
The big concern on this topic is the beauty standarts and how it affects peoples self steem. It is not seen, anymore, as a natural, human thing to get the appearance of being old. On platforms such as Instagram and Youtube, there are a lot of content creators that advertise products of that kind and reinforce that the real beauty is to be young.
On that note, as much as it is not dangerous and unhealthy, on a phisical level, to use those products — when we talk about those that are tested and approved by vigilance organisations — it is very compromising for people’s mental health to be subjected to this extent of standart, one that makes them think that a natural process shouldn’t be happening to them.
On another side, we have the treatments made on clinics, and those can be seen as dangerous. Modifying their bodys and injecting substances on them are the easiest way for people to mantain the youth, - again, on a surface level — but the real question is, at what cost, what good can this give them? None, should be the answer, but people go throught any pain to be accepted.
Nhận xét đầy đủ của giám khảo
This is an example of a strong response. It certainly explores the topic and includes reference to the products and the treatments that people pay for to look younger. The position becomes clearer as the response develops. Ideas are communicated well, and include: the products people use, the impact of social media on self-esteem, and the mental health implications of ageing (to think we should not be ageing). The conclusion is appropriate: that these dangerous treatments have no real benefits, but people do it to be accepted.
This is already a strong response, but there is room to develop and clarify what the writer thinks are the benefits and drawbacks of having access to these products and treatments.
The response is easy to read, with good cohesion. Ideas are logically ordered, with effective paragraphing to support overall coherence. There is a range of cohesive devices [Even if | Nowadays | The big concern | On platforms | On that note | On another side]. However, as almost every sentence starts with a linking device, there is some ‘overuse’.
Vocabulary is flexible, with some good collocation and higher-level items [Eternal youth | content creators | to be subjected to] with only a few errors in spelling [especialised | self steem | phisical | standart] or word form [vigilance / vigilant]. Similarly, there is a wide range of grammatical structures, including comparatives [less visible | easiest way] and multi-clause sentences, but a few errors remain.
To achieve the highest ratings, the candidate should link the points more tightly to whether it is ‘a good or bad thing’ for people to spend their money in this way, and demonstrate a greater degree of accuracy in vocabulary.

Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing with regards to your service, which I solicited and made use of on August 10th. All things considered, I would say that I am highly satisfied with the work your company has done.
First of all, the punctuality of the employees was remarkable. Once they arrived in the location, the job proceeded smoothly. By midday, all of the furniture was correctly tied up and ready to be relocated. I especially appriciated the help offered by Ted Stone who single-handedly secured all of the sharp objects before carrying them to the truck.
Unfortunately, there has been one aspect of the service which I was absolutely unsatisfied with: the price. As far as I am concearned, if the customer is asked to cover the gas expences, the amount of money that you canrge should be considerably lower.
In summary, even though I strongly suggest a 20% reduction of the final cost, I absolutely recommend your service. If it is needed again it the near future, I will come to you at once.
Yours faithfully,

This is a strong response to the task; all three bullet points are clearly addressed and a suitable tone is used to communicate feedback to the company. The response is presented in the correct letter format and ideas are arranged logically.
The range of vocabulary is good, with some higher-level examples [punctuality | remarkable | proceeded smoothly | single-handedly]; however, some spelling errors remain [appriciated | concearned | expences | canrge]. The writing shows a variety of structures, including passive forms [was correctly tied up] and conditional forms using [if]. However, overall sentences are short. To achieve the highest scores, the candidate would need to include a wider range of grammatical structures and try to avoid errors in vocabulary.
This is a good example of a higher-level response to this Task 1 question.

In some parts of the world, people buy far too many clothes.
What are the reasons for this?
How can people be persuaded to reduce the number of clothes they buy?
Bài viết đầy đủ của thí sinh
In our modern world we face huge social differences. Some countries are incredibly rich while others are terribly poor. People who were lucky to be born in wealthy countries spend too much on food and clothes.
Why does it happen? I believe there are at least three reasons for this. First of all the amount of advertisement they receive via TV, Instagram, Youtube, you name it. People see a variety of outits that is offered with a discount, so they continue to buy more clothes. Sometimes they wear it once or even let it wait for the perfect moment that will never comes in the closet. Second reason is poor financial health. People do not know how to save and invest money, so they spend the better half of their salary at the nearest store. The third reason is the events any big city offers. Those who visit cinemas, restaurants, bars, concerts want to look chic. So you simply have to spend money on your looks in big cities.
How can we stop buying clothes we do not need? I think you could watch less add on TV, be yourself, buy only comfortable thing. If you need to attend an event, do purchase clothes you will be ale to wear in your everyday life. By the way decluttering is a moder thing to do now. It saves your home from extra clothes and things and it also saves your money for travelling! Do become a minimalist traveller!
Nhận xét đầy đủ của giám khảo
This response addresses both elements of the question. The writer provides three reasons why people buy too many clothes, and there are examples given on how people can be persuaded to reduce the number of clothes that they buy. There is appropriate content within the response, but it could be improved by a more comprehensive conclusion.
Ideas are arranged logically and the paragraphing is helpful in sequencing the response. Cohesive devices are used to good effect, especially in the first half [I believe | First of all | Sometimes | The third reason] and there are examples of reference [while others | they | Those who visit] but the final paragraph reads more like a list (maybe the candidate was in a hurry to finish) with fewer effective cohesive features.
Vocabulary is generally appropriate, with some stronger items [huge social differences | incredibly rich | terribly poor | perfect moment] but also errors [outits / outfits | add / adverts | ale / able | moder / modern]. Similarly, grammatical structures are varied, but the level of error is high and limits the rating here.
To achieve a higher rating, the third paragraph should be more fully developed, with a concluding section. The vocabulary and grammatical resource in that paragraph should also be at a higher level.

The line graph highlights data about how many people participated in 5 various activities at one social club in Melbourne, Australia for the first two decades of XXI century.
Overall, over the years more participants got involved in activities on Table tennis and Musical plays, while Amateur dramatics lost its interest for public. Being flactuated, two types of activities, which are Film club and Martial arts levelled off. Another striking point is that over a twenty – year period between 2000 and 2020, the Film club kept its position as the most popular activity.
Looking at the details of Table tennis, in 2000, there were about 15 participants in club for it. In the next 10 years, it attracted 5 more members, before dramatic surge from 20 to below 60 participants. In 2005, the activity on Musical performances introduced and over the following 15 years, it saw a steady increase on the number of participants by about 20 in the last year.
Regarding next two activities, Film club and Martial arts, the saw fluactions, but without any changes in the overall position. Film club started the process with about 60 members and finished it just below 70, while the participants of Martial arts kept their numbers at around 35.
The number of participants of amateurs on draturgy was about 25 and it saw a steady decrease then by 10.

This good response begins with an introduction, then in the second paragraph summarises the main trends. The next few paragraphs contain the data and cover each of the participant groups. The information is organised logically and a range of linking devices are used [Overall | Another striking point | In the next 10 years]. There is also some flexible reference and substitution [while | which | it | their] with a few inaccuracies. Vocabulary is generally good [got involved in | levelled off | dramatic surge], but there are some errors [flactuated / fluctuated | amateurs on draturgy / amateur dramatics]. This response has a variety of grammatical structures and the past simple tense is well controlled. There are sentences with multiple clauses, including superlatives (most popular], but also some errors in verb forms [introduced / was introduced], some missing articles [public / the public | dramatic surge / a dramatic surge | next two / the next two], some errors with prepositions [in club for it / in the club | by about 20 / to about 20] and inconsistent capitalisation. The candidate should demonstrate a greater level of accuracy with grammatical structures.

In my opinion competition at work, at school and in daily life can both be a good thing and a bad thing. Why? because I think too much of anything can be destructive. Yes, it’s a very good thing to be competitive but don’t overdo it! Having no competition in your life at all can be very depressing, because you have no motivation, no goals you want to achieve, everytime you wake up in the morning. I don’t believe that there is such thing as “co-operating” too much, when you work with someone you should work together as a team and co-operate, but also do things for yourself, like something career-wise. You should think of your future in your work. That goes the same if you are still in school, take my school life for example. If I am very good at one subject in particular, lots of other student may come up to me and ask for pointers. I would be very glad to help them. If there is any homework, school mates may come over to do it together. this is also fine and very good for building relationship. But sometimes there are people who think you are so nice and ask you to do their work for them. This is where you should draw the line, yes you are friends and you should help each other, but that doesn’t mean that you have to do their homework or give them answer when there is a test. Remember life is a competition, be a winner.

This response covers the task and is engaging to read. The candidate starts by saying competition can be good and bad, too much can be [destructive] and too little can be [depressing] as you would have [no motivation, no goals]. No specific examples are given, and they would improve the response. The rest of the response addresses ‘cooperation’ but is mostly about how people can cooperate rather than comparing ‘cooperation’ with ‘competition’ in line with the question. The conclusion [… be a winner] slightly contradicts the earlier point [/ don’t believe that there is such a thing as “co-operating” too much]. Unfortunately, there is no paragraphing to group ideas together or indicate main topics. This affects the rating for coherence and cohesion. There is some higher-level vocabulary [destructive | motivation | career-wise] with some idiomatic use [draw the line] which makes vocabulary the strongest area in this response. A wider range would be needed for a higher score. There is a range of grammatical structures, including comparative forms and conditional [if) structures. Although they do address the task and present relevant ideas, to achieve a higher score, the candidate should organise the response into paragraphs and discuss both views. They could also demonstrate a greater level of accuracy with vocabulary and grammatical structures.

The plans below show a harbour in 2000 and how it looks today.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.
Bài viết đầy đủ của thí sinh
The maps give the information about the improvement of the Porth Harbour from 2000 to today.
The first impression is that the Harbour today made use of more areas than in the past.
It can be seen that there are several areas that still stay the same today as in 2000. These include the Carpark and the Showers and Toilets which are located in the north west of the map. However, one more Showers and Toilets are built between the two Carpark today. Besides, the Porth Harbour today also has one more Passenger ferries which right next to the left of the existing one from 2000. Moreover, an area for Cafés and shops is added next to the Lifeboat one. Another significant difference is the relocation of the Marina (private yachts) and the fishing boats areas. Today, the Marina is moved down to the place of the old Fishing boats area to have more space and vice-versa, the Fishing boats area is relocated at the old Marina area. The last noticeable change in this Harbour is the Construction in the South East. The disused old Castle was destroyed and a new Hotel was built there today and another Hotel Is also added in the Private beach area.
Overall, even that the harbour still keeps some areas unchanged, there are many reconstructions and improvements for the Porth Harbour today.
Nhận xét đầy đủ của giám khảo
Overall, this is a strong response. The candidate has covered the main features of the changes and has included an overview to summarise the changes, in the first and the last paragraph. The main details are accurate, apart from the addition of [another Hotel) in the private beach area. The reader can follow the ideas as they are logically organised. This is due to the linking words [However | Besides | also | Another | Overall] and cohesive features [existing one | vice-versa], but there are some errors. Vocabulary demonstrates some flexibility [first impression | relocated | noticeable change], but there is also some inaccuracy and repetition. The weakest area, though, is the use of grammatical structures. There is a mix of sentence forms, with some good complex use [made use of | can be seen that | These include … which are] but some errors, such as inaccurate use of the plural [one more Showers | boats areas] (because the candidate has copied the plural form from the question) and incorrect verb form [is moved down | has been moved down]. To achieve a higher score, the candidate should present an overview to summarise the main stages, for example: The changes to the harbour between 2000 and now focus on improvements that are targeted towards attracting visitors or tourists to the harbour, and include a new hotel, with private beach, more capacity for the passenger ferries and expanded facilities.

The working week should be shorter and workers should have a longer weekend.
Do you agree or disagree?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Write at least 250 words.
Bài viết đầy đủ của thí sinh
I personally disagree with the issue whether the working days should be one day less. By no means should we make the weekend three days long. There are two aspects that support my point of view.
First of all, now all over the world are facing an unprecedented economic recession caused by COVID-19. Many factories are forced to close and the shops shut down. The economic loss is substantial. Nevertheless, with the advent of vaccine, I perceive that now people can go back to their work. This would certainly be conducive to our economy. If we reduce one day from work, even just from a week, it would cause repercussions on our society in terms of the development of economy.
Secondly, I am used to do my leisure activities in Saturday and Sunday. If there is one day more, I would wonder what to do on that day, and that means I have to rearrange my weekend plans. I think it would be tiring. Most importantly, I come to admit that, too some degree, I am a workaholic. I cannot even image if I am separated from my favourite place – my office. It is the place where I retreat to when I feel anxious and want to get rid of everything. Working, indeed, gives me a sense of achievement and contentment. I, therefore, would oppose to the idea of cutting one working day.
Though some people may argue that they need one day more in the week to reduce their stress from work, it could be harmful to our economic growth in this harsh time. Also, I believe that many people are used to the current working system, which provides two days for break. The sudden change will make people contused. Unless the government enacts a comprehensive policy for this new system, I think the idea does not work, and it would surely brings chaos in our society.
Nhận xét đầy đủ của giám khảo
In this good response, the candidate presents their opinion at the start, then gives two main points about why the current working week should not change: economic development and the disruption to our existing pattern of a two-day weekend. In the final paragraph, they consider the other side of the argument and people who might like an additional day off. (However, a counter argument is not necessary for this type of question.) Overall, ideas are presented in a clear order, and there is some good use of linking words and expressions [First of all | Nevertheless | Most importantly | Unless]. The response contains some good vocabulary with effective collocation [unprecedented economic recession | conducive to | sense of achievement], and there is a range of structures including conditionals [if), modals [would | may | could] and multi-clause sentences. There are some errors in prepositions and other structures [/ am used to do / I am used to doing], but the impact is not disruptive. To achieve a higher score, ideas could be more fully extended, for example, by giving more detail on how removing a working day could be negative for the economy or for workers.

Biofuel Production: How Ethanol is Made
Bài viết đầy đủ của thí sinh
The given diagram illustrates the various stages in the process of producing ethanol, a kind of biofuel.
Overall, there are about 9 main phrases in the ethanol production, starting with growing plants and tress, and finishing with supplying ethanol for transportation and gas mission.
At the first stage in the process of making ethanol, a large number of trees and plants are grown. Thanks to the source of energy from sunlight and carbon dioxide from humman and transportattin, plants and trees grow up and are haverested when they are mature enough. After being collected by machine, they are put into another machine where slice them into small pieces to form cellulose. This step is call pre-processing.
In the following stage, cellulose are taken to a factory where “processing” stage occurs. Subsequently, Sugars are extracted from original cellulose before microbes are added to make ethanol. It is then used as a tupe of fuel for a lot of means of transportation such as cars, trucks, airplanes. Finally, a huge amount of carbon dioxide which is released into the air become energy for process of “photosynthesis” of plants and trees.
Nhận xét đầy đủ của giám khảo
This is a strong response. The first short paragraph is an introduction, then the second paragraph contains an overview of the process [starting with growing plants] and [finishing with supplying ethanol]. This is sufficient as an overview, but the candidate should also summarise the main stages. The rest of the response presents and highlights the process. Ideas are logically organised and the response follows the order given in the diagram. There is good use of linking words to describe a process [At the first stage | After being | Subsequently] and other linking devices, including reference and substitution [they | then used). The candidate uses vocabulary well with some flexibility [extracted | photosynthesis], but there are a handful of errors [phrases / phases | tress / trees || humman / human | transportattin / transportation | tupe / type]. These errors do not get in the way of the meaning. Grammatical range is quite broad and there is a variety of complex structures and sentences with multiple clauses. There are a few errors [where slice them / which slices them]. To achieve a higher score, an overview which summarises the main stages should be presented, for example: This cycle for biofuel production involves three main stages: harvesting and preparing plant material for processing, producing ethanol by chemical processing, then using the fuel for transportation, before the cycle begins again.

It is important for everyone, including young people, to save money for their future.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Write at least 250 words.
Bài viết đầy đủ của thí sinh
Saving money for the future is always a very good idea. First of all money is something that is needed in almost all areas in life. Whether you are young or old you need money to buy everyday things like food, clothing, etc. living etc.
young people are often full of enthusiasm about their future. They are looking forward to their first job, to meeting new people or to getting to know as much of the world as they can. Many tend to live in the present rather than in the future so that they don’t always plan ahead.
When you people get older and settle down they realize that buying a house, starting a family or caring for your health takes up a good considerable amount of money and everybody who began saving money in younger years is glad to have done so. However, saving money is not always possible. Sometimes unforeseen expenses cannot be avoided, life situations are suddenly changing or there is never even enough money available even for the most necessary things. So how could you save money for the future in this case? In general, you have to ask yourself what your priorities in life are. What are the things you cherish most? Is it more important for you to plan ahead or do you prefer to just enjoy the moment that you live in?
Everybody has to make own choices and to consider what is really essential for him or herself.
In any age taking a moment to f reflect on your life and looking back at the things you have already done is always a good thing to do.
If you know yourself well and about all the things that really make you happy you will be able to make the right decisions in financial issues as well as other areas in life.
In what way money plays an important role will be easy to be found out then. Perhaps you need less than you first thought years ago.
Nhận xét đầy đủ của giám khảo
This is a strong response to the task. In the first paragraph, the candidate makes their view clear, agreeing with the statement that saving money for the future is a good idea. In the next two paragraphs, they present ideas on how saving money is actually quite challenging: young people can [tend to live in the present), so [don’t always plan ahead, the cost of housing, starting families and health care can be high, and [unforeseen expenses cannot be avoided). The rest of the response is about how people can decide how much to spend and how much to save. The last line [Perhaps you need less than you first thought years ago] suggests that saving is not the answer for everyone. The ending gives advice to the reader, rather than summarising the main ideas. Ideas are easy to follow and logically organised. Linking expressions are well integrated [Whether | Sometimes | Perhaps] and generally accurate, and cohesive devices are used well [Many tend to | everybody who] with some errors [own choices / their own choices]. Paragraphing at the start is appropriate, but the last four sentences are set out separately and inappropriately, which affects the score. There is some higher-level vocabulary, with effective collocation [full of enthusiasm | tend to live in the present | settle down | unforeseen expenses]. The candidate uses a variety of structures, including comparative forms [rather than | do you prefer], conditionals [/f] and a range of multi-clause sentences. Errors remain, with some missing punctuation and incorrect tenses [be found out / find out] and prepositions [In any age / At any age], but this does not affect the reader’s understanding. To achieve a higher score, the candidate should ensure that the conclusion summarises the main ideas, and use effective paragraphing, especially in the second half of the response.

This candidate has worked hard to report all data contained in the graphs. The key areas are covered, but the overall effect is rather mechanical, as each point is presented in a linear sequence. The ideas are set out in the correct order, following the order of the graphs in the question, but linking between and within the sentences is not strong. The format is quite repetitive [taking classes | learning] because of the lack of linking devices. Similarly, vocabulary is limited and a wider range would be needed for a higher score. Grammatical range is also minimal. There is a noticeable level of error, but the reader is still able to understand the message. To improve the score, this candidate should use a wider range of linking devices and take a less mechanical approach. A stronger and wider range of vocabulary and grammar would also be beneficial.

In many countries nowadays, consumers can go to a supermarket and buy food produced all over the world.
Do you think this is a positive or negative development?

Write at least 250 words.
Bài viết đầy đủ của thí sinh
Today there are a lot of different shops where we can buy all kind of stuff produced all over the world. Is it right to buy food produced in other countries? Is this idea useful for people nowadays?
I suppose this to be a good idea. When supermarkets and even small shops provide people food from abroad then there are much more possibilities for us to choose something. When shops have only food and things produced in our country, it is really hard to make a good choise. Sometimes people want to try something new and interesting maybe even something extraordinary which they never buy before. In this cases food which is produced in other countries will help them to be satisfied with their demands. When supermarkets have a good suply of different food produced anywhere than people can find delicious things depending on their tastes. For example, people who like French products can buy some kinds of french cheese or wine not only in France.
Food from other countries is also very good when you want to buy some fresh vegetables and fruits in winter. It is really useful thing because some people are vegetarians and they need vegetables and fruits during the whole year.
The only disadvantage of food which is produced in other countries is the way how it has been delivered. in some cases products can be not so fresh especialy in summer, when it is very hot outside.
To sum it up, I can surely say that buying products from other countries is a good thing to become more closer to other culturies. You can certainly cook something unusial at home and it will taste like in very good expensive restaurant somewhere abroad.
Nhận xét đầy đủ của giám khảo
This is a good response to the task. The candidate clearly agrees with the idea that people should be able to buy international food in supermarkets. The main reason given is that people want to try something [new and interesting] and different. Examples are given of French products and seasonal produce for vegetarians. One disadvantage is given, related to the impact of hot weather on transportation. The conclusion includes bringing cultures together through food but does not summarise the points made in the full answer. A more relevant conclusion would help the candidate achieve a higher score, as well as further extending the ideas. Generally, the candidate organises the ideas well, and we can follow them clearly. Some good linking devices are used [where | maybe even | which | who], but some errors remain [this cases / these cases | than / then]. The response is set out across five paragraphs, but three of them have only two sentences. These are short paragraphs and could be extended to illustrate the central topic in more detail. Again, vocabulary is generally appropriate for the question, with some strong examples [extraordinary | depending on their tastes], but there is a lack of precision [stuff] and frequent minor spelling errors [choise | suply | especialy | culturies | unusial. However, we can still understand what is meant. There are attempts at a wider range of structures and a number of multi-clause sentences. However, the level of error [which they never buy before / which they have never bought before | the way how it has been delivered / the way it has been delivered] detracts from the score. Overall, a more comprehensive conclusion, longer paragraphs, a wider range of vocabulary and fewer grammatical slips would improve the response and achieve a higher score.

Please do not hesitate to contact if you have any question. I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Thank you.

This letter is a good response to the task, the tone is suitable for writing to a manager and all aspects of the bullet points are presented. Benefits to the employer include [more skills and knowledges] that can be shared across the team, and an increased [logistic network]. The message can be followed as there is a clear progression, although due to the very short paragraphs, this does appear more like a list of information rather than a letter. Vocabulary has some good elements [enrolled | contribute to | discuss any alternative], but there is some lack of precision in word choice [weekly basic / weekly schedule | confidently to contribute / confident will contribute]. Grammatical structures are varied but limited overall. Strengths include [reduced to … from | is to be completed | so 1 could attend], but there are some errors, including missing articles (Diploma / a Diploma] and third person ‘s’ [logistic network / logistics network | any question / any questions], and use of modal forms [/ am appreciate / I would appreciate | I am delighted / I would be delighted]. To improve the rating, the ideas should be better organised into paragraphs within the letter. Instead of starting each sentence with [1, the candidate could introduce more variety with linking and grammatical structures.

Photography is actually be come trend. Now a day due to impact of Social Media People are not looking at the place they visit but rather concentrate on taking photographs of the place thinking that they will post them on facebook or instagram. They get a different kind of pleasure when they get more likes on their posts in the Social Media.
These are many reasons behind??? the fact that people have access to camera and internet and social media at their fingertips they have forgotten the value of the nature of the place they are visiting.
There are negative and positive impact over this situation. Firstly when we look at good things it is good that the Technology has given an advanced accebility to the high speed internet in our pockets and high defination cameras at a cheapest price.
This helps us to capture all that we need immediately. Secondly, there is no skill or learning of a certification required for that, even a kid is able to capture beautiful pictures using Mobile Phones.
Thirdly, it is giving opportunity as not to miss any thing that we capture to share at affortable price.
Though there are positive aspects for this practices, as bad also follows good, there are negative points that we need to think about as well.
One among these is privacy, when we post some of the photographs in social media, Every one will get to know as what is happening our life. The privacy is effected.
Secondly it is giving an opportunity for fradster’s to collect information like our address, Date of birth Age and so forth that they can get access to the Banking information and Scam and Rob the Money.
To conclude the positive things only give satification but the negative once are the real threats to personal information and individuals life.
Nhận xét đầy đủ của giám khảo
This response covers each main area of the task: brief reasons are given on why people are taking photographs of themselves without looking at the place they are visiting (the impact of social media and the pleasure people get from the likes’ on pictures they post) and much more detail is provided on the ‘positive or negative’ aspects of the trend. There is a clear progression overall and some good cohesive features [Firstly | Secondly | like | but]. However, there is repetition and error [These / There | good | privacy) and paragraphing is not very helpful. There is some higher-level vocabulary [impact of | concentrate on | different kind of pleasure | get access to] but also, some error in spelling [accebility | high defination | affortable | fradster’s | satification] and inaccuracy [Rob / steal | once / one] which impacts the rating here. Grammatical structures are mixed, with some good use (they have forgotten the value | need to | can], but generally, the level of error is quite high. A greater degree of accuracy in these structures would increase the score. Overall, to achieve a higher score, the candidate should add more on ‘Why do you think this is happening?’ and should provide a more comprehensive conclusion. It is also important to use paragraphing more effectively, to group ideas together.

This response is an attempt to address the question, but the candidate has misunderstood the requirements. The bullet points ask them to offer to make this popular dish for the club event, but this response asks the manager to arrange for the dish to be prepared. This also affects the third bullet point, where instead of explaining why the dish should be included in the International Students’ club event to celebrate food, the candidate explains why their sporting team would benefit. The score for Task Achievement is affected by this inaccurate content. Apart from the inaccurate details, there is a sense of coherence within the letter. There are linking devices [because | However | Hopefully] with some use of referencing [it | me | other team | this], but there are errors [This very healthy / It is very healthy). Vocabulary is good enough for the task. There is some accurate use [special traditional food | seasoning] but with frequent lapses in word choice [couzine | digestive of the food and spelling [variaty / variety | addictives / additives]. Similarly, grammatical structures are limited. There are some accurate structures, including if clauses, modals, and a range of tenses [if it is possible | need to have | have done | must not | should remember]. However, errors do occur frequently, and punctuation is faulty and missing altogether in some places [about that if not I will not]. To achieve a higher score, the letter needs to fully address the task, and demonstrate a greater level of accuracy with vocabulary and grammatical structures.

Nowadays it is becoming more difficult to find the necessary time to do the home work. Even tasks as simple as cleaning the house and cooking the dinner or as important as childcare, are being delegated to third parties such as nannies or private companies.
Some people could say it is helpful to have someone who support ourselves at home. Not only because we usually do not have time to do it, but because we can promote jobs for other people.
However I strongly believe that we should spend less hours at the office and much more hours at home. Doing that we should be able to carry on all the duties we use to have in the houses.
I think there certain activities we should not pass to others. For instance, taking care of our children. This is something that we, as parents, should do for ourselves. No one else could provide the kids all the love, understanding and friendship that a mother or father give to them.
I remember that when I was a child, my mother quit her job and she dedicated all her time and effort to look after my brothers and I. Now, I realized that it was an invaluable time impossible to have with somebody else different from our own mother.
Summarizing, even though some people found useful to have others helping us in our duties at home, I think we should do it for ourselves because it provides valuable time at home. So that we should work less and spend more time sharing with our families. No matter if it is household chores or looking after children.

This is a strong response to the question and the candidate’s position is clear from the beginning. The candidate argues that people will find most satisfaction doing the work themselves at home. There is some consideration of the other side, and the conclusion is clear and relevant. Ideas are sequenced logically and cohesion is managed well with some good cohesive devices [Doing that | Summarizing] but some overuse. There are a few slips [who support ourselves / to support us]. Each paragraph presents a clear central topic. Vocabulary is natural and accurate [certain activities | quit | invaluable time]. Sentence structure shows a variety of complex structures including multi-clause sentences, but a higher degree of accuracy would improve the response.

This letter covers each area of the task and provides a nice level of detail. The request is to extend the lease for a further six months, plans have changed due to a work opportunity and a problem with the back door is highlighted. The tone is suitable for writing to the owner of the apartment. Ideas are organised coherently and progression is clear. There are a range of cohesive devices [So | although] and helpful use of referencing [it | who | which]. Unfortunately, there is a high level of error in spelling. This does detract from the score, which is a shame as this writer is clearly trying hard to include a good range of vocabulary. Unfortunately, the errors are noticeable because there are so many of them [expierd / expired | apperoutly / apparently | extand ower / extend our | nightbrohood / neighbourhood | espisialy / especially]. There is a mix of simple and complex grammatical structures, with some good examples [is about to | if it’s possible | if I’m going to stay]. However, again, the level of error is quite high and is noticeable. There are errors in plural forms [6 more month / 6 more months] in use of past tenses [ask / asked] and future forms [”I love to / I’d love to]. The content of this letter covers each area of the task, but to achieve a higher score, the candidate should demonstrate a greater level of accuracy with vocabulary and grammatical structures.

Some consumers are increasingly choosing to buy goods that are produced in their local area, rather than imported goods.
What are the reasons for this?
Is this a positive or a negative trend?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Write at least 250 words.
Bài viết đầy đủ của thí sinh
Yes, this is a positive trend, but when you know about that manufacturer company, about their service, quality, quantity etc. If you buy goods from you known brand then it is good for you because you get good product.
Goods are produced in local areas are cheaper than imported gods. There is a big price difference in local and imported goods. All people are not reached so those who are not afford imported goods they automatically turn to local goods.
If you buying any goods from our local brand then the money remain in our area & this is very helpful to make our economy strong. We have to buy only those product that made or produced in our area because it gives money, job to our area.
There are verious frouad companies selling duplicate of first copy imported goods. So this is also the one reason or kind of fear for not buying imported goods. There are verious charges applied when we buy imported goods and for local goods there are no such charges or taxes applied.
Hear I would like to share my experience. I buy a jeans of Lewis brand of rs 4000 after some days the colour of pant become lighter day by day, I feel very bad because I invest 4000 rs on jeans only because Lewis is an imported brand, then I thought if I buy jeans from local area then I get 4 jeans in 4000 & I realised I did mistake & from that day I choose to buy goods that are produced in my local area rather than imported goods.
I suggest you that, I you want to be a part of our developing country then buy goods from our local brands this helps to keep our money in our country.
Nhận xét đầy đủ của giám khảo
This response addresses both parts of the question: the reasons for consumers buying local goods, and whether this is positive or negative. In the first line, we see the writer thinks it is a positive trend. Then reasons are given for buying local goods rather than imported goods: if the product is local, it will be a good product; locally produced goods will be cheaper; the money will remain in the local area, helping the local economy with jobs and money; and buying local will avoid buying fake goods. A personal example is given to illustrate the positive trend. The conclusion is really ‘giving advice’ to consumers to buy local brands to develop their local economy. There is progression through the response, but linking expressions are largely missing or incorrect [Hear / Here | / suggest you that / | suggest that]. However, cohesive devices are sometimes used well [those who | our | those product that) but can be faulty. Vocabulary has an adequate range, with some good collocation, [known brand | price difference | no such charges or taxes applied] despite some errors in spelling [verious frouad / various fraud]. There are some examples of complex sentence forms, for example, in the fourth paragraph, but there are quite frequent grammatical errors. To achieve a higher score, the candidate should present the ideas around the ‘positive and negative trend’ more clearly. Their conclusion should summarise the main arguments, rather than ‘give advice’ to local consumers. They should also demonstrate a greater level of accuracy with vocabulary and grammatical structures.

Besides, I really love this company. The environment and working feeling are perfect here. So, those are why I am keen to stay in this company.

Nhận xét đầy đủ của giám khảo
This letter is a good response to the task and the letter format is appropriate and helpful. However, the second bullet point, which is to suggest how the company would benefit, is not well covered. In the third paragraph, there is mention of an increased understanding of design skills from another department, but it is not entirely clear how this benefits the company. More could be added on this point to improve the response. Nevertheless, ideas are arranged coherently and there is good progression. Some useful linking devices are used [However | First of all | Moreover | Besides], although they all come at the beginning of the sentence. We also have reference and substitution (in the following paragraphs | are perfect here], but there are errors [those / that is]. There is some good vocabulary, but there are also errors which detract from the score [permition / permission | asistanted / assisting] but do not have too much impact. Grammatical structures contain some stronger examples [would like to thank you for | why I am keen to stay], but overall, the level of error is quite high. In order to score more highly, the candidate should clearly highlight all three bullet points and extend responses. There should also be greater accuracy in spelling and fewer errors in the grammatical structures.

Nowadays famous people are photographed by professional photographers everywhere they go. Some people say this is a good thing because the public are interested in their lives. Other people think that photographers are wrong to follow famous people.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Write at least 250 words.
Bài viết đầy đủ của thí sinh
It is always a debatable topic whether photographers should follow famous people to get information about their lives. One class of people says it is good and photographers should do it while another class comments that it is not good to interferes someone’s life. Before giving my opinion, I would like to discuss both the view points in detail as given in coming paragraphs.
There is one group of people who believe that photographers should always follow well known celebrities and try to get photos and information about their life. As the fans of that particular celebrity are very interested in such news and information. By getting this type of details, fans would love to follow that person’s habits, style, clothing, etc. For example, one of my friend Ketul is a big fan of famous filmstar Salman Khan. He used to follow him and wearning same clothes, Keeps similar hairstyle as Salman Khan is having. One more reason is that the photographers taking pictures of such famous personalities and spreading it via different social media makes that person more famous. In many cases, that celebrities like this thing.
On the other hand, another group of people believe that photographers should not do this. Following someone and taking pictures of his/her personal life is wrong. Celebrities are also a human being.
They also want some space apart from their career. There are some cases where these personalities were upset and angry on photographers for doing this. For example, in December 2011, Priyanka Chopra (a famous actress) field a case against a photographer for the same.
In conclusion, I would like to say that the photographers should do this but with the permission of that celebrities. Taking pictures of someone without informing is always wrong. Getting pictures of famous personality is people’s demand and famous people should always satisfy his/her fans by allowing photographers to take their pictures.

This is a good response. The candidate presents ideas on both sides (whether it is right or wrong for photographers to follow famous people) and gives a clear opinion at the end. There is a demand for photographs of famous people; some people think it is acceptable for photographers to go ahead, as the fans demand it (an example is given of a famous film star) and some celebrities like it, as it makes them more famous; and others think it is wrong, as celebrities are also human beings who deserve some [space] (an example is given of another celebrity). The conclusion draws both sides together. The response is logically organised. There are a range of linking devices [Before | One more reason | On the other hand] and the candidate uses cohesive devices within sentences effectively, such as referencing [people who | that person | this type]. Vocabulary is good with some higher-level collocation [particular celebrity | taking pictures]. There are a few errors in spelling [wearning / wearing] and word choice, but they do not impede communication. There are a variety of complex structures and frequent sentences with multiple clauses. To achieve a higher score, the candidate should demonstrate a greater level of accuracy with vocabulary and grammatical structures.

The line graph illustrates the proportion of urban citizens in Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia between 1970 and 2020, with the expected population in 2030 and 2040.
Overall, it can be easily seen that all four countries has a dramatic rise in population, starting at the lowest point in 1970 and being projected to reach the peak in 2040.
Malaysia and Indonesia saw a slightly rise in population, respectively from 30 to about 45 and around 12 to over 20 percent from 1970 to 1990. After that, both countries has climbed rapidly until now before being predicted to continue increasing for the next 20 years.
After almost remaining in the 70s, Philippines percentage increased dramatically to reach about 47 percent on 1990 and dropped to 40% in 2010. Then, this country faced slightly rise in 2020.
Meanwhile, Thailand reached approximate 30% in 1990 and saw not much changes until 2020. Both two countries are projected to increase in population in 2030 and 2040.

This response covers the requirements of the task. There is an overview in the second paragraph and key features are presented for each country, with main trends identified. Ideas are grouped together with a clear overall progression: countries with a similar trend are presented in the same paragraph, first Malaysia and Indonesia, then Thailand and the Philippines. There is some effective use of linkers [Overall | After that | Meanwhile] and other cohesive devices [respectively | this country], but a few errors remain [Both two]. Vocabulary includes a range, with some less common examples [proportion | expected population | dramatic rise | projected to reach the peak]. There are some errors [slightly I slight | almost remaining | approximate / approximately], which do not impede communication. The mix of grammatical structures is good, with some complex sentence forms [being predicted to continue increasing for the next 20 years]. Some errors remain, but they rarely reduce communication. To improve the Band Score for this response, there could be more detail on the similarity of the trends on the graph, more detail on data from 1990 onwards and fewer errors in spelling and grammar. However, this is a good response that does address the requirements of the task.

The most important aim of science should be to improve people’s lives. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Bài mẫu chính thức do giám khảo viết
Scientific developments are occurring at a great rate but some of them do not seem to be of help to people. In fact, sometimes scientific innovations are regretted by those who invented them. This essay will argue that science should never harm people but scientists should aim to further their understanding as much as to improve people's lives.
On one hand, there is a strong argument that the public good should be the top priority for scientists. They are the ones who have the potential to make discoveries and invent things that can change the world. Electricity, modern medicine, telecommunications and the internet are just some of the scientific innovations that have changed lives for the better.
On the other hand, sometimes scientists do research just in the hope of adding to their knowledge. While they should make absolutely sure that their experiments do no harm, they may not know until they have finished how their findings will be used and whether they will improve people's lives. The scientist Nobel invented dynamite to help with mining, not knowing that it would one day be used in weapons, and the scientist who discovered the life-saving drug penicillin did so quite by chance.
Overall, it seems that science should improve the lives of people and that ought to be one of its aims. However, knowledge and discovery are aims in themselves and are just as important for scientists. Sometimes scientists do not know how their scientific breakthroughs will be used until their work is done.
Nhận xét của giám khảo về bài mẫu
This response presents a well-developed response to the question and concludes that the aim of scientific discoveries should be to improve people’s lives, but that the process often results in unexpected outcomes.
The candidate agrees with but adds to the statement. This is acceptable in a ‘to what extent’ question, as the candidate is explaining that the extent cannot always be predicted.
The candidate presents the argument that the true aim of science is gaining new knowledge and discoveries. They agree that this should be to improve people’s lives but that the results can’t be predicted.
The second paragraph gives examples of discoveries that have changed people’s lives for the better [Electricity, modern medicine, telecommunications and the internet].
To improve the response, this paragraph could be expanded so that the list of discoveries is fully aligned with the question.
The third paragraph presents the other side, that scientists do not often know what they will find. Examples of two innovations are given [dynamite | penicillin] to support this point.
Ideas are logically organised and paragraphs have clear central topics. Cohesive devices are used appropriately with some appropriate referencing [them | their | it], although linkers often appear at the start of the sentence, which can seem a little mechanical [On one hand | On the other hand | While | Overall | However | Sometimes].
In order to improve the overall rating, the second paragraph could be further extended and the use of cohesive devices could be less mechanical and not always at the start of each sentence.
However, this is a strong, higher-level response to the task.

The graph illustrats the data of different levels of annual wage of families in the united states in 2007, 2011 and 2015.
As far as the number of families whose annual income was less than $25,000, it began with around >5 million in 2007, then increased to approximately 27 million in 2011, but decreased by 2 million 4 years later. Similarly, those of families that earned $25,000 to $49,999 were about 25 million in 2007, after that it rose to nearly 30 million in 2011. Finally it decreased to around 27 million in 2015.
By contrast, the groups of families which have high income, including $75,000 to $99.999 and $100,000 or more, experienced a drop in 2011, but their data went up in 2015.
Interesting things could be seen in the group of middle income, the data remain the same in 2007, 2011 and 2015.
Nhận xét đầy đủ của giám khảo
This response does present most of the data within the bar chart and the key features required. To improve the response, an overview of the information should be included, for example: Across the 8 years, households with incomes below $50,000 rose, then fell back slightly, households with incomes of over $75,000 fell slightly then increased and those with the mid-level incomes remained the same. The information is arranged coherently, starting with the details for the lower-income households, then the higher, then the mid-section. There are some effective cohesive devices [As far as Similarly By contrast]. The vocabulary is suitable for the task, but there is an error [>5 million / 25 million] which is not helpful when reporting the details. There is a mix of simple and complex structures, with sentences that contain multiple clauses. There are some examples of missing capitalisation [united states / United States] with some errors [remain I remained]. To improve the response, it is important to re-read to check for small errors with vocabulary and to include an overview or summary of the salient information.

Some university students want to learn about other subjects in addition to their main subjects. Others believe it is more important to give all their time and attention to studying for a qualification.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Bài mẫu chính thức do giám khảo viết
Students attend university to improve their prospects and find suitable employment after graduation. For this reason, some feel that they should focus all their energy on their main subjects to gain a relevant qualification. Others want a more well-rounded education, so they try to learn about additional subjects.
It is perfectly reasonable for students to enter university with a strong sense of curiosity and a desire to learn as much as possible. Unfortunately, we tend to put subjects into artificial boxes, suggesting that business, art and science are not connected. If students become too focused on a single area, it may stifle their initial curiosity, limiting their potential. They could also graduate with a very narrow skill set that doesn't translate well to the current job market, which often favours those who have taken a multidisciplinary approach to their studies.
Despite this, caution is certainly needed. The more we learn about a subject, the more complex it becomes. Gaining an in-depth, specialist knowledge of a subject requires a certain level of focus and dedication over a long period. If we try to learn about too many things at once, our knowledge may lack the depth required to obtain a qualification. If they are not careful, young people could begin to lose interest in their main subjects, which would be detrimental to their studies.
While learning about other subjects is not necessarily a bad thing, I believe university students should ensure that their main subjects remain the priority so that they do not lose sight of their objective: gaining a qualification. Then they can calculate how much time, energy and headspace they have left for learning about other topics.
Nhận xét của giám khảo về bài mẫu
This response addresses both parts of the task and presents a clear opinion at the end. The second paragraph explains how the current university system is set up to [put subjects into artificial boxes] and how this narrow focus can disadvantage students. The third paragraph presents the benefits of [Gaining an in-depth, specialist knowledge] and the dangers of trying to include too much. Both sides of the question are addressed in well-developed paragraphs.
To improve the response, it would be helpful to set out the opinion at the start, for added continuity of the position.
Vocabulary is natural and sophisticated [stifle their initial curiosity | Gaining an in-depth, specialist knowledge | detrimental to their studies] without errors.
Grammatical structures are wide-ranging, with a range of tenses and conditional [if] and modal [may | could | would | can] structures embedded in complex, flexible sentences.

The diagram below shows the floor plan of a public library 20 years ago and how it looks now.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Bài mẫu chính thức do giám khảo viết
The diagrams show Central Library before and after changes were made to its layout.
Clearly, the library has been updated to include dedicated spaces for events and now has an open space in the centre.
Twenty years ago, to the left of the entrance there was a reading room with newspapers and magazines and to the right there was an enquiry desk. Now there’s a computer room on the left and a café where the information desk once was. Adult fiction has moved to the right-hand side of the room and all reference books are now on the left. There is a smaller information desk with self-service machines in what once was the adult non-fiction section.
There was a room at the back left-hand corner that had computer games, CDs and videos that has since been enlarged and houses children’s fiction. It has a space with two sofas where storytelling events are held. There is a lecture room in the back right-hand corner where children’s books used to be.
Nhận xét của giám khảo về bài mẫu
This response covers the main changes that have occurred over the 20-year period. An overview is presented in the second paragraph which is quite general: it refers to the [dedicated spaces for events] but this could be improved by giving a summary of the key changes (dedicated spaces for events, self-service facilities and a café).
Ideas are arranged logically: the changes to the front of the library are presented in the third paragraph and the changes to the back section in the final paragraph. This shows a logical approach to reporting the changes and there is some good cohesion [once was | now on the left | has since been].
There is a good range of vocabulary. In this kind of task, vocabulary from the floor plan needs to be used to report the changes, but the use of different words shows some flexibility and precision [been updated | dedicated spaces | houses].
In terms of grammar, there are error-free sentences and some variation in structures used when describing changes [has been updated | what once was | has since been enlarged].
The response could be improved by extending the overview to include more of a summary of the main changes but overall, this response captures the main changes in a logical way.

In many countries around the world, rural people are moving to cities, so the population in the countryside is decreasing.
Do you think this is a positive or a negative development?
Bài mẫu chính thức do giám khảo viết
Statistics show that the world’s population is increasing rapidly. It is expected that most of us will be living in cities within the next few decades. The question of whether urbanisation is a positive or negative development remains controversial.
A rapid influx of people moving from rural to urban areas is bound to cause problems. Firstly, pressure on resources such as housing and transportation intensifies. It is becoming difficult for many people to afford adequate housing in cities. A by-product of this is the creation of slums causing low-income families to group together in neglected parts of the city. These people often become trapped in a cycle of poverty that is difficult to escape.
As mentioned above, the growth of urban areas can also lead to severe traffic congestion because more and more vehicles travel into the city from the suburbs. This has many knock-on effects, such as problems with air quality. It also leads many city dwellers to experience mental health issues because travelling across large cities is tiring and stressful.
All of this being said, I don't believe that urbanisation is a wholly negative development. There are advantages to living in large cities that are well managed. For example, there are more schools which means more education opportunities. Access to higher-quality health care is often better in cities. Some cities have also introduced ride-sharing, e-bikes and park and ride services that reduce environmental problems.
My opinion is that many of the problems associated with urbanisation are avoidable but dealing with increasing populations in cities is a formidable challenge. How governments, businesses and society respond to this challenge will dramatically affect the future of our world.
Nhận xét của giám khảo về bài mẫu
This response addresses both sides of the question and presents a position, that the movement to cities is not a [wholly negative development]. The second and third paragraphs lay out the problems that can be caused by a [rapid influx] of people to urban areas [housing | transportation | traffic congestion] and the fourth paragraph presents some of the advantages [education opportunities | higher-quality health care | environmental transport initiatives].
However, the part of the question about ‘the population in the countryside ... decreasing’ is not covered. The candidate would need to include it to provide a full answer to this question.
Information and ideas are logically organised and there is a clear progression, starting with the challenges and ending with a range of advantages.
Vocabulary is used with a natural and sophisticated control [bound to | trapped in a cycle of poverty | severe traffic congestion | knock-on effects], although rare errors remain [education opportunities / educational opportunities]. Grammar is flexible and accurate, with a wide range of structures included. There are some shorter sentences which could be extended and more multi-clause examples could be included to add complexity.
To improve this response, consideration should be given to the impact of the shrinking population in the countryside.

The graph below shows the average monthly change in the prices of three metals during 2014.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Bài mẫu chính thức do giám khảo viết
From the line graph, we can see the average monthly rise or fall in how much copper, nickel and zinc cost throughout 2014.
Overall, nickel started with the highest percentage change of the three but ended with the lowest. Zinc started with the smallest change and ended with the highest, and copper prices fluctuated. Prices for all three metals dipped in June.
In January the price of nickel was up six per cent, but this dropped to negative three percent in June, ending the year with a one percent increase in both November and December. Copper began the year with an increase of two percent and by May, the price was dropping (by slightly less than one per cent). It rose again, increasing by a percentage point in July, August and September. Zinc saw its most dramatic increase in February, with three per cent and the price fell in June (a one percent decrease). The change was negative until October/November when it began to rise.
Nhận xét của giám khảo về bài mẫu
This response reports the main data for each of the three metals. There is an introduction in the first paragraph and an overview in the second, followed by the presentation of the main trends of all three categories in the third. Some details are missing (copper after September and no percentage changes for any metal from July to September).
The candidate identifies the ‘dip’ for all three in June, but to score more highly, they could also have mentioned that overall, percentage changes fell at the beginning of the year, remained static from July to September and rose after October to the end of the year.
Information is arranged coherently; each metal is taken in turn for data reporting. There is good use of cohesive devices [Overall | but | with | when], but there could be more.
Vocabulary is adequate with some attempts to use less common items [fluctuated | dramatic increase] and attempts to use synonyms [ended with the lowest | dipped | dropped].
There is a lack of complex structures, as most sentences are simple or compound. However, there is some variety in structures, including comparatives [highest | smallest | most dramatic] and continuous tenses [was dropping].
To improve the response, the candidate could extend the overview to reflect some common trends and should include some of the missing details.

In many countries, people are now living longer than ever before. Some people say an ageing population creates problems for governments. Other people think there are benefits if society has more elderly people.
To what extent do the advantages of having an ageing population outweigh the disadvantages?
Bài mẫu chính thức do giám khảo viết
The population in most parts of the world is ageing; people are living longer and there are fewer younger people in many places as birth rates fall. This phenomenon has pros and cons, but this essay will contend that, on balance, the advantages of having an older population outweigh the negatives.
The first issue that occurs to many people when considering the ageing population is the expense. If people live longer, they may have more than 30 years of retirement and may need to be supported financially by the government or their families. If they experience age-related illness, this impacts the health system and takes up resources needed by other people in society. What’s more, when older people are financially independent, it might be hard for younger people if they have to compete to get a foot in the door of the housing market or gain employment.
That being said, older people have a lot to contribute in terms of wisdom, experience and skills. Many people are active and productive for longer than their counterparts were 50 years ago and are an asset to the economy and society well into their old age. They are able to work for longer and after retirement they contribute in many ways too, such as by doing charitable work, spending money as consumers and supporting their families. Grandparents often care for their young grandchildren, making it easier for both parents to work.
While it is true that an ageing population poses challenges for governments, it is clear that these are outweighed by the significant benefits that elderly people bring to society.
Nhận xét của giám khảo về bài mẫu
This is a good response to the task. Both sides of the argument are presented, with the ideas extended for both. The candidate makes their position clear from the beginning, that there are more advantages than disadvantages.
The second paragraph addresses the expense of looking after the elderly, the health system and the cost for governments. It also captures the challenge that older people take up houses and jobs so younger people cannot progress.
The third paragraph presents the advantages of the [wisdom, experience and skills] older people can bring: that they are more active and remain productive for longer, not only working, but also [doing charitable work, spending money as consumers, supporting their families and even grandchildren for the working parents].
This means that the conclusion is relevant and justified.
Ideas are organised and cohesion has good progression.
Vocabulary is skilfully used, with some high-level terms [phenomenon | age-related illness | impacts the health system] and some sophisticated examples [get a foot in the door | counterparts].
There are a range of complex grammatical structures, including several conditional structures [if]. The conditionals are used to emphasise the challenges presented and are without errors.
This is a high-level, fully developed response with ideas that are well supported, extended and engaging.

Your English-speaking friend has asked for your help with a college project he/she is doing about celebrating New Year in different countries.
Write a letter to your friend. In your letter:
Say how important New Year is to people in your country
Describe how New Year is celebrated in your country
Explain what you like about New Year celebrations in your country
Bài mẫu chính thức do giám khảo viết
Dear Mia
It’s great to hear from you; your project sounds really interesting. I’d be happy to tell you about Tet in Vietnam.
Tet is short for Tết Nguyên Đán and it’s our New Year according to the lunar calendar. It’s the first day of spring and it’s usually in January or February. It’s really important to us as it’s a chance for the family to come together and we visit the graves of our ancestors. It’s probably the biggest festival in Vietnam and it’s a public holiday. We say if good things happen on the first day of the new year, the whole year will be full of blessings.
I always loved it as a child because I would get a red envelope with money inside it from the older members of the family. Now I like visiting friends and the extended family on the week of Tet and enjoying the lovely candied fruits that we have on this occasion.
I hope that helps. Do ask if there’s anything else you’d like to know.
All the best
Nhận xét của giám khảo về bài mẫu
This is a full response to the task. The candidate addresses the first two bullet points in the second paragraph, then covers the last bullet in the third, but could add more about how New Year is celebrated. They mention [the biggest festival ... public holiday] but give no details about how it is celebrated.
However, the enthusiastic tone is just right for a letter to a friend, and progression in the response is clear. There are some effective linking expressions [according to | because | Now], although in the second paragraph, most sentences start with [It’s], so a wider range would improve the response.
The range of vocabulary includes some less common items and some good collocation [come together | good things happen], but it could be wider. Similarly, there is a mix of grammatical structures, including conditionals [if], but generally, the range is limited with simple structures and short, compound sentences. Overall, this is an appropriate and engaging response. To improve it, the range of cohesive devices and grammatical structures could be widened.

Some people say that it is better to work for a large company than a small one. Do you agree or disagree?
Bài mẫu chính thức do giám khảo viết
Job seekers often question whether it is better to work for a large or a small company. I would personally prefer to work for a larger company, but I’d like to consider the advantages and disadvantages of both.
In general, larger companies can support their employees more effectively because they have access to more resources. These could include higher salaries, end-of-year bonuses, and other perks such as an excellent food service and even sports facilities. Large companies may also contribute more to your professional development, offering regular conferences and training courses.
The size of a large company is also an indication of their success, meaning that it can offer greater stability. There is also a better chance for promotion and career development in companies with many departments and a larger management structure. Of course, advancement may not come easily because it is hard to stand out when many employees are vying for the same role.
In small companies, you may feel less like a number and that your efforts actually make a difference. You will also need to wear different hats, which helps you develop a skill set that might not be possible in a larger company. The downside is a higher chance of strained relationships because working in close proximity with the same small group of people every day can be challenging. Small companies can also be unstable. If they lose a large account or consumer tastes change, your position could suddenly become precarious.
Based on the above, I’d say that the kind of company you work for depends on personal preference, but your future career prospects may be better in a large company.
Nhận xét của giám khảo về bài mẫu
This response covers both aspects of the task, including the pros and cons of each type of workplace, with some useful detail and good supporting ideas. Ideas are logically organised and cohesion is very well managed throughout.
There are a range of linkers [Of course | Based on the above] and other cohesive devices [both | your | their | which], which means it is easy to read. Paragraphing is generally good, with the introduction and conclusion sitting separately. However, the second and third paragraphs would be better combined, as they both address ‘large’ companies.
Vocabulary is strong and there are some natural and sophisticated examples [vying for | wear different hats | strained relationships]. Grammar is flexible and accurate, with a range of structures including modals [can | may | could] and conditionals [If] as part of complex, multi-clause sentences. Errors are rare.
This is a good example of a high-level response.

Explain what you hope to learn from the work experience
Ask some questions about the work experience you are going to do
Bài mẫu chính thức do giám khảo viết
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am excited to be starting work experience at the REN Broadcasting Corporation on 10 June and I would like to thank you very much for this opportunity. I am grateful to have the chance to gain some insight into the industry I wish to work in one day.
As I mentioned in my interview, I am especially interested in community television and would love to build on my skills in sound engineering. Besides this, I am hoping to develop my soft skills in areas such as teamwork, problem solving and effective communication.
I was wondering if it has been decided which team I will be working with and whether I will have a mentor assigned to me. I would like to prepare ahead of time if possible by doing some research. I also wanted to clarify whether I will be at the studio in Newtown or the headquarters in the city centre.
I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards

This is a strong response to the task; it addresses all three bullet points and uses a suitable tone to communicate with the manager of the organisation. The response is presented in the correct letter format, with an appropriate ending, and there is clear progression throughout the letter.
The range of vocabulary is wide and precise [gain some insight into | develop my soft skills | mentor assigned], without errors. The writing contains a wide range of structures, including conditionals [if] and passives [it has been decided], with accurate multi-clause sentences.
This is a good example of a higher-level response.

When we meet someone for the first time, we generally decide very quickly what kind of person we think they are and if we like them or not. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?
Bài mẫu chính thức do giám khảo viết
Some people say that we form an opinion about a person within thirty seconds of meeting them. A person’s clothing, facial expression, and even the way they shake hands can have a profound effect on our judgement. But is this natural human tendency good or bad?
There is something unfair about our inclination to judge people too quickly. Many people have had unfortunate life experiences that can affect their confidence when meeting new people. Shyness may make them appear aloof and cold, but this initially icy persona melts away when we allow them a bit of time to warm up. Others do not have the means to dress in a way that leaves an impression. Inevitably, if we write people off too quickly, we could miss out on potential friendships, business opportunities and even romantic relationships.
There is another side to this that is also worth considering. We are all aware of the effect first impressions can have. There is even a saying: you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression. Awareness of this reality should motivate us to always treat people in a friendly, respectful manner. If we strive to make a good impression on the people we meet, it increases our overall happiness and sense of well-being.
On balance, there is no doubt that judging people too quickly can have negative consequences. But knowing the power of first impressions can keep us on our toes, motivating us to question how we come across to others. Aside from this, the ability to read people quickly could also prevent us from being easily taken in by somebody with ulterior motives.
Nhận xét của giám khảo về bài mẫu
This response presents both sides of the argument and the ending concludes that forming impressions early can be either positive or negative. The second paragraph presents the downsides of judging too rapidly: the impact of low confidence, being shy or not having smart clothes. It also notes that people could miss out on friendships, opportunities and romance if they judge too harshly.
The third paragraph is not entirely relevant. The question asks about the evaluation people make about the ‘kind of person’ and whether ‘we like them’ but this paragraph mainly gives advice on how to behave when meeting new people. It should be more aligned to the question and present the advantages of forming early impressions.
There is a very wide range of vocabulary with some higher-level items [affect their confidence | aloof | icy persona | strive to make | come across]. Overall, the response includes a variety of accurate complex grammatical structures, with many long sentences containing a number of clauses.
Vocabulary and grammatical structures are very strong, accurate and flexible throughout. To improve the response, the third paragraph could present more clearly the advantages of quick decisions about the people we meet.

You recently bought some train tickets for a journey a week in advance. When you went to the station to catch the train, you were told you could not use the tickets and the staff were very unhelpful to you.
Write a letter to the train company. In your letter:

Say why you were unhappy with the staff

Bài mẫu chính thức do giám khảo viết
Dear Sir or Madam
I am writing to complain about the information on your website and the service I received at Central Station. Yesterday my elderly uncle and I arrived at Central intending to use the tickets we had purchased online to travel to Newcastle at 5.50pm. Unfortunately, we were told that our tickets were for off-peak and we couldn’t use them.
When I bought the tickets, it was not clear on the website that they were just for certain times. This needs to be clarified on your website as I can’t be the only one who has made this mistake. However, what really upset me was the unhelpful manner of the staff. When we asked what to do, instead of helping us to pay the difference and catch our train, the attendant waved us in the direction of a ticket machine with a long queue. We missed our train and waited an hour for the next one. Please train your personnel to be more proactive in future.
I hope you find this feedback useful and take it on board.
Yours faithfully
Nhận xét của giám khảo về bài mẫu
This is a very strong response to the task: all three bullet points are addressed with a good level of detail, and the tone is suitable for a letter of complaint. There is clear progression throughout the letter and a very natural style.
The range of vocabulary is wide and includes many higher-level items [unhelpful manner of | pay the difference | direction of | proactive]. There is only one slip [off-peak / off-peak travel].
Overall, the response includes a variety of complex grammatical structures [intending to use], with numerous long sentences containing a number of clauses, including past perfect and modal forms [had purchased | couldn’t use].
This is already a very high-level response. To improve it, the final bullet point could be developed further, perhaps with an example of how the staff could be ‘more proactive’.

In the past, most working people had only one job. However, nowadays, more and more people have more than one job at the same time.
What are the reasons for this development?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of having more than one job?
Bài mẫu chính thức do giám khảo viết
It is increasingly common for people to hold down more than one job. Gone are the days when people could rely on one source of income to satisfy all their financial needs. I would like to consider the reasons for this change and outline its advantages and disadvantages.
People take on extra work because making ends meet has become so challenging. In recent years the cost of living has risen exponentially, making it a real challenge to break even at the end of the month. Additionally, advertising companies relentlessly promote the idea that more wealth means more happiness, a concept that many people believe. They may take on freelance jobs or weekend work in the hope of improving their lot in life.
A person with more than one job may experience several benefits. Diversifying your skills and gaining more experience can make you more employable when negotiating the highly competitive job market. Avoiding putting all your eggs in one basket is also a wise move as you have something to fall back on if one source of income stops.
There are also many downsides to this situation. Working for more than one company can quickly leave a person feeling overworked and burnt out. It also leaves limited time for being with family and friends or doing things you enjoy. What’s more, when you are spread too thin, you may produce poor-quality work.
Overall, I think it is important to remain balanced. Having an additional source of income can be beneficial if you keep work in its place, but it is not worth damaging your health and relationships for the sake of a slightly larger bank balance.
Nhận xét của giám khảo về bài mẫu
This is a strong response. The candidate has addressed both questions and provided a range of extended ideas.
The reasons given for having more than one job include the need to earn more to keep up with the [cost of living] and the idea, sold to people by advertising, that we should earn as much as possible [more wealth means more happiness].
The pros and cons of having more than one job are well covered. Advantages include increasing your skills and experience to make you more employable and avoiding putting [all your eggs in one basket] in case you lose one job. Disadvantages include feeling [overworked] or [burnt out], and [limited time] to spend with family and friends and on hobbies, and producing [poor-quality work].
The response is logically organised with well-managed cohesion. There are some very good linkers [Gone are the days when | Additionally | What’s more] and accurate reference and substitution.
Vocabulary is accurate and wide ranging [satisfy ... financial needs | take on | risen exponentially | break even | improving their lot] with some sophisticated resource [putting all your eggs in one basket | burnt out | spread too thin]. Similarly, the range of grammatical structures is wide and flexible.
This is a very good example of a higher-level response.

Dear Ms Karim,
Thank you very much again for sending me on the Workplace Safety course. It was valuable training and I now feel a lot more confident that I know how to prevent accidents in the factory. We covered points such as safe storage, keeping access ways clear and fire safety.
I can report that I have already used the skills I learned; when I noticed some cables that were a trip hazard and also a large bin that was partially blocking the exit, I was able to identify and fix those problems straight away.
I understand that employees who started working with us this year have already received this training as part of their orientation but for those who have been here longer, it would be a good opportunity to refresh and add to their knowledge.
It is a well-run course that is very relevant to our workplace and I am grateful for the opportunity.
Many thanks
Nhận xét của giám khảo về bài mẫu
This is a good response to the task: it addresses all three bullet points, uses a suitable tone to communicate with an employer and is presented in the correct letter format. There is clear progression throughout the letter, but there could be more evidence to justify why the course might not be suitable for colleagues (the final bullet point). There are some effective cohesive devices [that | those who], but a wider range of linking expressions than [and | but] would improve the final rating.
Vocabulary is used well, and there is some effective collocation [prevent accidents | trip hazard | partially blocking]. Grammatical structures include simple and complex examples [started working with us | have been here longer], but most of the letter is in the past simple and past simple tenses.
To achieve the highest scores, the candidate would need to include a wider range of cohesive devices and grammatical structures. They could improve the response by providing further suggestions on why the course may not be suitable for other colleagues. Overall, it is a good response.

Some people dislike changes in their society and in their own lives, and want things to stay the same.
Why do some people want things to stay the same?
Why should change be regarded as something positive?
Bài mẫu chính thức do giám khảo viết
It is true that nothing in life is permanent except change. Changes in society and our own lives are inevitable. We all get older, friends and family move away, and our employment situation can suddenly change. Understandably, many people wish everything could stay the same. In this essay, I would like to consider the reasons for this view and explain why it is better to embrace change.
Wanting to feel in control of our lives is perfectly normal. We often feel vulnerable when events in society occur which are beyond our control or when we cannot be sure of the outcome of something. The uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic is an example of this. Changes in our personal circumstances can also be hard to accept. For example, when a friend or family member moves away, we may experience a deep sense of loss. Ironically, even good changes can bring uncertainty. If we receive a promotion, we may struggle with imposter syndrome and wrestle with a fear of failure.
Despite these perfectly natural feelings, I think it is good to embrace change. Since change is unavoidable, it is much better to accept reality than to become consumed by negative thinking. When we remain positive, we may find that a change actually benefits us in the long run. Adapting to change also helps us develop resilience, a quality that can help us face an obstacle and see an opportunity in it.
As highlighted above, sooner or later, we will all face change. While change is unsettling, it is vital to keep focused on the positive aspects of our circumstances. Doing so can help us unlock new opportunities we didn’t know were available to us.
Nhận xét của giám khảo về bài mẫu
This essay is a high-level response that covers all aspects of the question. In the second paragraph, reasons are presented on why people in society as a whole and individuals might resist change. Then, the third paragraph gives clear reasons to suggest that, overall, this is a positive process. The position is consistent and the conclusion ties both areas together for a strong finish.
Ideas are logically organised. Cohesive devices [Ironically | Despite these | As highlighted above | Doing so can] are used highly effectively and paragraphing is helpful.
Vocabulary is natural and sophisticated [embrace change | deep sense of loss | consumed by negative thinking | develop resilience]. Sentence structure demonstrates full flexibility, with a wide range of complex examples within a range of largely error-free multi-clause sentences.
Little needs to be added to improve the rating other than possibly an example to illustrate why changes should be seen as positive, in the third paragraph. However, this is a very good high-level response.
