The two plans illustrate how a college café has been changed following a redesign.
Overall, the café has become more focused on providing a wider range of food and drink services, while the main indoor seating area remains in the same position. In addition, outdoor facilities and several new service areas have been added.
Before the redesign, the kitchen occupied the north-west cornerupper left corner and was connected to one serving area for both food and drinks. Most of the café consisted of tables and chairs. There were also two small staff dining rooms in the northern central sectionnorth-east section. The toilets were located in the south-east corner, beside an entrance, and a lift was placed along the eastern wall.
Today, the kitchen and toilets are still in their original locations, although the old serving area has been replaced by a hot-mealsmeal counter. The staff rooms have been removed and this space is now used for a takeaway food countertakeaway-food counter and a coffee bar. A salad bar has also been installed along the western wallon the western side. The lift has been changed into recycling binsa recycling bin. Finally, the redesign has extended the café outside: barbecue facilities and outdoor seating have been built along the southern edge.
